Yeah, I missed out on that social interaction. My fault. All my fault :x

Yes I agree Sly.

Middle class are awful at managing money these days.

They spend and spend and then wonder where did all the money go?

And what do they spend it on?

- $2,000 a fortnight on food (my family of 6 spend $400 a week on food)
- Coffee in many places is $3 a cup. So 6 cups a day =$15
- The father goes out drinking on Friday with his mates. And he puts $15 on sportsbet.
- He also gets mcdonalds on the way to work every morning.
- The family all go out to dinner once or twice a week.
- Little Jimmys swimming lessons, Sarah's violin lessons, Big Jimmys gym membership
- Daddy and Mommy paying for Big Jimmys college courses
- The two expensive brand new cars and all the costs that come with it
- Brand new expensive flat screen TV every two years
- The new iPhone EVERY year for each person
- The new Xbox and PlayStation every 2-3 years
- Xbox Live and PlayStation Online membership each month
- Dad's gym membership, Mom's crossfit membership
- Bills, Bills, Bills
- School fees
- Going out every Saturday
- Big expensive holiday a year, at least $2,000-$8,000
- The man and his wife's marriage, at least $10,000

And much, much more.

"Where did it all go?" Joe Everyman asks his friend. He then takes a sip from his $3 coke bottle, his third one of the day. And then a sip from his $3 coffee, his sixth one of the day. And then a bite out of his $20 meal.

He then finishes his fourth alcoholic drink of the night, each can $3.

He looks up at the TV to watch the football game he has betted $20 on. His team lost...AGAIN.

He goes outside and finishes his pack of cigarettes. He smokes a pack a day and his pack is $20.

He pays $3.00 for the bus ticket home.

Once he gets home he decides to watch some Netflix with his $20 a month subscribtion and then some Foxtel with his $20 a month subscription.

He scrolls Facebook on a $1,800 IPhone X.

"Where does all the money go each day? I try to budget! I'm really good at it so it's not MY fault everything's so expensive!"

that's why you buy in bulk, commute by bike/carpool, hold onto your old piece of s**t phone for as long as possible, game on PC, eat at home, buy a 3 year old, lightly used depreciated cars.....etc etc

i'm having a hard time believing most people are really so stupid as to live as you've described.

where the hell is netflix 20 dollars a month? where is a bus pass 3 dollars?

australia? those are aussie dollars, right?

who pays top dollar for new phones???
who goes out to eat every week, or more? surely cooking isn't such a lost art.

Porterhouse was on sale, so I bought $10 worth, enough to divide into three steaks. Two NY strips and one 6 oz Tenderloin. I may try my hand at cooking beef wellington. :D I also bought a 2-/12 bag of fresh mussels for $5. Cheaper than going to McDonalds.

While I was exaggerating and generalizing some people really do live this way.

Who pays top dollar for new phones? Plenty of people. Every person who buys a new IPhone on launch day, of which there are millions.

New phones have massive sale numbers on launch day as people round the world lineup at stores before opening time just to try to be the first person to get it.

Grand Theft Auto V earned over 1 billion dollars on launch day because people can't wait a few months till the price drops.

Some video games launch at midnight, and will have hundreds of people lining up by the time the clock his 12.

I don't know how much Netflix is but in everyday conversation I've found most people have multiple paid subcriptions which would surely add up to at least 20 total dollars a month if not all.

My friend pays monthly for Xbox Live, Netflix, Spotify and Rooster Teeth FIRST. Surely all of these subscriptions would add up to at least $20 a month

It costs $5.70 for my father and I to catch the bus whenever we do. This is a daily bus pass that can take us to and from our stop.

We use concession/discount cards so our price is already lower than what someone without a discount card would have to pay.

$5.70/2 = $2.85.

My friends all spend hundreds of dollars on Grand theft auto V. They will literally spend their whole pays to get as much in-game money as they can to buy mansions, sports cards, jets and guns in the game.

This isn't a joke, this is reality.

I agree with you. I try to live very frugally.

I buy in bulk, take advantage of coupons and sales and never eat out. I only buy bottled water when absolutely necessary when I've been out for hours and getting dehydrated.

My TV is over 10 years old, my shoes are 4 years old, all of my furniture is good quality second-hand and most of my clothes.

My first fridge was my uncle's. I got it off him for free and it was about 17 years old. Still lasted me 10 months before it broke down.

My phone is a cheaper phone I got over 2 years ago and still works well today. These are just a few examples.

People probably don't judge us as much as we think they do.

Samsung’s phone cost $1,034.99 for its base model. Lg, Motorola all charge about the same for their flagship phones. iPhones don’t cost much more then other companies flagship phone. I dont know why every singles apple out.
If you’re getting a new phone that just came out it’s going be around $1,000 now a days.

Netflix bare bones is $8 a month, $14 a month for the top one, the. There’s Hulu, hbo,STARZ,etc. even cbs has a subscription service now, as does YouTube. And this is all with net neutrality. Everything is going be jacked up now :(

Xbox Live and ps + is about $70/60 a year, I got mine for $40 Black Friday. They always do it for that on Black Friday. I dont know why you’d re-up any other time.

Year my friend spent hundreds on gta online. A 19 old had spent over $10,000 on micro transactions by the time he turned 19. Ea made billions off micro transactions with fifia game ,that’s after ther game sales. People spend a lot of money on i game content. Game publishers make billions off content thst in 10 years will cease to exist. People are literally throwing money away. I did a bit until. Realized how pointless it was. Sure it was nice I bought a new car for $50 but then after a week it’s borijg again. Such a waste of money. I wish my friend hadn’t got it for me. GTA made a better car month later for $60. What a rip off. Meanwhile I’ve gotten years of play time from bf4($60) and Skyrim, fallout 4, etc. I only paid $45 for the latter. I wait and get single play games for $15-20 they fun but not $60 fun.

Looo up world of war craft or eve online, people spend so much money on it, some will turn around and make a profit selling in game stuff, on ark survival evolved a game I play, people breed Dino’s and sell them for real money to other players. Like lots of real money. It’s becom a business for them. I wonder if they report their profits.

Well, let's just say that flagship phones in general are expensive. Often you're paying for the marketing. People could save money by buying something like a Oneplus. Less marketing and retail markup means a cheaper phone with similar specs.

I'd buy one myself except I'd rather use my old blackberry.

I'm not exactly well educated, but I do that, too. I can't go to all the ones I'd like to because of my very limited budget, but I have ways of making it scretch and find cheaper solutions. :D

Aren't there any budgeting courses or the like there? If there are, try it out, maybe you'll learn something useful.

The problem is that I'm paying rent. I know people who lived with their parents while they saved for a house. I can't do that because I don't get on with my parents very well. While I'm paying rent it's very difficult for me to save up tens of thousands of dollars.

In here most people pay rent before they buy their own place yet they can still do it. Of course if your parents would pay all the necessary things for you or at least a roof over your head you could save enough money much faster, but if that isn't the case you just have to start small if you ever want a place of your own. Of course, if you're absolutely uncapable of having anything on your account at the end of the month then this isn't possible either, but somehow I doubt that. If you're in a situation where you can only save a few dollars per month, then you can start with that.
