I think FXE is referring to self-awareness which leads to empathy and introspection.
I think TP is referring to self-awareness as in narcissism and nefarious forethought.
Expanding on this, there's two sorts of 'bad' people to be around. Some know they're bad, do bad things, treat people poorly, etc and feel entitled to be that way (or even obliged); others do bad things, treat people poorly but also feel genuinely hurt when their bad behaviour is criticized because they can't conceive of their behaviour not being acceptable.
I don't believe the former ever really feel guilty about behaviours they've done; the latter might feel intensely guilty, but it doesn't alter their behaviour, instead if anything they might use the intensity of their guilt as part of how they defend their ego from realizing they're regularly a bad person.
All sorts of words like self-awareness, entitlement, etc get used when discussing those sorts of personalities, but like you say, sometimes the words aren't quite meaning the same thing depending on which type is being discussed.
