HopefulRomantic did a list on this in a previous comment so I'll do that...

Blue eyes
A confident, white smile
thin lips
short, styled hair, slightly curly
defined jawline
stubble or short, trimmed beard
chest hair
rough hands
denim jackets
button fly blue jeans (regular fit, not baggy)
those boxer briefs mentioned in that other thread in the Adult section
cowboy boots / doc martins or harley d's / work boots

Extra points for a cowboy hat.

a solid, full laugh
makes direct eye contact
has a strong, commanding presence
has a voice with a slight gravely tone, just a little rough edge

Southern accent helps but not mandatory.

And the little things put it over the edge, like when he has manners enough to open doors and when he treats me like I'm the only woman in a room. Women always notice these things... even dense ones like me.

This compiled list, when put into one fella, gets me every time and certainly worked for my husband (obviously). Now if I see a guy like that, I run the other direction!

this answers a slightly altered version of the topic question. I am going to get e-beat up now.

Men who ride motorcycles, play guitar, plays & watches sports, are strong, who don't follow trends. I also like men who don't shave anything but their heads & faces. I think men who shave their bodies are too feminine for me. I like the manly man...

My boyfriend Lee loves fat chicks and I'm sure that's one of the reasons why he's dating me lol

Blue eyes
A confident, white smile

(snipped to what Biokinetica emphasized of my comment - wf)

That's depressing.

Why is it depressing? That's not arbitrary. I've been with men who have brown eyes and hazel eyes. By far, I have the greatest physical and mental response to blue eyes. A confident, white smile is another one, especially when it's surrounded by a pair of thin lips positioned just above a defined jawline with a slight beard or stubble.

I'm confused why you would say it's depressing. That's a very specific word to use. Can you elaborate?

Well, it's very uncommon for any non-caucasian ethnicity to have blue eyes, and not having a white smile can happen for a number of reasons that could be out of a person's control. The rest of the list sounds like an american western stereotype, but i'm less concerned about those because the traits aren't genetic.

Meh. I'm not looking to have a community approve of my preferences, just to have my skirt blown up. I've dated all kinds of people and I can tell you what does it for me. I'm married so at this point there's really only one person who should have any interest in meeting anything on my list. I assume you will critique everyone's lists in this way, not just mine.

I'm not saying the wider community should approve of your preferences, I'm saying that there must be some more mental aspects of a male that arouse you in addition to the way they look. Is the physical all that excites you? You mentioned manners, but that only goes so deep.

As for the others, most of them aren't nearly as long (or serious - see the cake tins post), but I had at least one issue with HopefulRomantic's list as well, however, it had already been addressed. Furthermore, since the definitions of "extreme intelligence" and "brilliance" are still largely up to the individual, I'll leave the Philosophy of Mind internet warfare rage on somewhere else. The rest of her list sounds intensely emotional, which is fine, because emotion is very important (arousal can stir emotion). However, I do wonder about the "Eclecticism and an appreciation for the arts in all forms". My penchant for technical accuracy (when obtainable) leads me to want to know more about the definition of art being used here and an example of what the statement really means.

Can't say I'll go through every post, though.

Sure, there's more to it, but there's no real point in laying out a road map. I hit the physical and basic behavioral points because my senses are captivated before my mind logically processes whether or not someone is a good match and is, therefore, worthy of arousal. I was merely answering the question of the thread and, unfortunately, I'm not prepared to defend it like a thesis. If you believe my list is cheap and cliche, then it is cheap and cliche to you. That is perfectly alright.
