A suggestion for men who just want a woman

This, and even if I get all the steps right and think I'm doing well, people still tell me I'm bad at it.
Stupid dancing.
I find it ironic though that with all the current culture's "men who X are loosers" "Men who X will never grow up" "Modern culture is under an epidemic of peter pan syndrome", as soon as someone tries to come up places to meet women who might not hate men for just existing, they are jumped all over as sexist or something.
(X=play video games, doesn't have a five year plan, buy the wrong kind of fabric softener, spend too much time at the gym, don't work out enough, eat too much red meat, eat too little red meat, etc)
Time for me to be an a**hole...

If you want a woman, anyone woman, period, and it doesn't matter who, as long as she is indeed a woman, then I have some suggestion.
1. Start going to AA meetings:
It has been my observations that recovering addicts and alcoholics are dating ready. For some reason, these woman just need to be with a man, and they aren't particularly selective. They just want a man.

2 things: 1) the AA group i've seen that gathers at my church is largely male. 2) I've had all of 2 glasses of champagne and 1/3 of a beer in my life (i couldn't stand the taste of it), so I pretty much won't ever have an alcohol problem or any particular reason to approach AA.

I'm totally down for that, with one caveat: She has to be willing to have more. I have no qualms about being a father, but I do want to eventually be a *real* father.

3. Plain Janes:
The plane girl in the T-shirt with no makeup, glasses, and wash and wear hair. A lot of these girls are down to Earth girls who have a higher chance of being on the spectrum and would rather spend their time with more important things than makeup and fashion. There's a higher chance they will turn you down than the others above because a lot of them are asexual but there are ones who aren't, and they get overlooked easily.

Hey, i'm totally down for that. You show me a plain jane that would actually want me and I'd easily go out with her...

Same thing applies here. My only desires here are that she's not heavier than me (and i'm 300 pounds, so it would take quite a bit to get to my level)...

Fun places to pick girls up where it's not so awkward:
1. Renaissance festivals:
You can really be chivalrous and charming and there is ambiguity as to whether it's part of your character act or not so if she rejects you you won't have to feel like a fool (though you shouldn't anyway) because she won't know you were actually serious. If she takes to you, you have a chance to get her number.
Okay, this one I'm never going to do... ren faires are generally not my thing. 1. Renaissance festivals:

2. Anime conventions and Comic Con.
People seem to like to be approached and have others comment on their costumes and take photos. I guess the challenge here is making sure the person is legally date-able.
Aren't these generally sausage fests?

That all said, I have a suggestion of my own: Theater. I've done a bit of stage acting in high school and college, and let me tell you, it's largely women and gay men in my experience. I've come close to hooking up more than a couple of times (only my fear of rejection stopped me from asking, really) over the years. Now I'm too old for the group I was in

But the question is, are you really looking for ANY woman? If not then the thread doesn't apply to you. And if so, then you should not come up with excuses that are detrimental to your goal.

There's usually numerous AA groups per area. Some of the speakers are very interesting and motivational to listen to.

Why should she not be heavier than you if you want any woman?

Again, it's not about your thing. It's about getting a woman.

Actually no. I would say about half of the participants are actually girls, if not more, and most guys don't actually go to there to meet girls. They go to them because they like anime.

Fear of rejection is what is stopping a lot of people, men, women, with AS, without AS from getting a relationship. Don't like someone too much before you ask them out and understand that there are many reasons someone might reject you and most of them aren't things that are personal against the asker.

That's a good suggestion and I wish you could gather the nerve to take it yourself. You probably came a lot closer than you think to hooking up. You may be too old for those specific theater groups but community theater is open to all ages. Do yourself a favor and get in a community theater group.

Well people call me an a**hole for making "excuses" all the time (as you may know, i'm pretty much too afraid to do anything)...

I wish there was a community theater group that catered to my age group... there doesn't seem to be anything like that in the area...

Never tried it so I won't comment on this, though I would have thought that your average AA meeting was a sausage fest.
The ones I've seen (I just went to see a relative's friend speak) had a lot of women. I would say it had a relatively equal distribution of men and women.
Then if I change my mind about a relationship I may consider hitting the bottle a little harder.

Why? Do you think there are not single women under 30?
I was talking more about myself. Currently I am not interested, but I sometimes change my thinking. I can't see myself dealing with kids for at least a few years down the road regardless so single mothers are definitely out even if I change my mind.

I gave a description.
I'm not even sure I could tell whether someone is wearing makeup or not unless it is quite over applied. I don't even know what you mean by "wash and wear hair." I guess that leaves T shirt and glasses as the criteria if I was looking.

If you can get in anyway. A lot of men who do get in have an arrogant streak so women in it might take better to a humble guy with AS with interesting things to say.

Barf. When I tried Mensa it was awful. A collection of some of the least interesting people I have ever met who were too impressed with themselves to loosen up. If it wasn't about a stereotypically intellectual topic they would proudly announce their ignorance on the matter as if being ignorant on a topic made them sound more intelligent. This applied to the females as well.
But again, you aren't looking for a woman.[/quote]
I actually was looking at the time, not actively but I wasn't opposed to the idea. I was just dispensing cautionary advice. But I guess if you're really desperate for a woman the arrogance could be overlooked, that is if she'd get over herself enough to even talk.
Still the suggestions on this thread are worth a thought if you're looking. I'll contribute another, I remember there was a thread not too long ago about trying to start something with female prisoners. If you're careful about it that sounds like it could work.
