"Involuntary celibacy"
HisDivineMajesty, there is no speculation abou the fact that older people engage in active love and dating. some may be single, and some may be widowed. you are selectively ignoring their needs in the interest of focusing on the people who are younger, but in fact there are vastly more women than men in the older bracket, so they are far more likely to be incels than young men. & no speculation that men dating older women could reduce the number of young single men - just simple mathematics.

I'm selectively ignoring their needs because their needs are less urgent (usually, women over 64 are not in the business of having children anymore), socially sanctioned rather than ridiculed (the decent widow versus the pathetic loser), presumably less frequent due to physical and sometimes mental decay (loss of sexual needs; dementia; muscle conditions, bone conditions), and not really relevant to what I'm saying ('this is why men compete harder in the relevant brackets').
Could, but not is. Not mathematics, either. Presumed calculations.
sexual desires are not necessarily lesser in an older woman. they can have the same burning libido as a younger person.
so what? a large number of younger people don't have children either. if it was the only reason to have sex, people would do it no more than once a year. people have sex for many other reasons.
you have portrayed them as sexless, mentally decaying husks with ridiculously oversblown health problems, and you're telling me there is no stigma? maybe they want to be seen as sexy honeypots on legs, but you've characterised them as lifeless and half-dead. all of which has nothing to do with having sex.
many older people face the same pressures of dating as younger people. and the dating pool for older women is vanishingly small.
- Ages 50 to 65 approximate 71% divorced and 11% widowed.
73% of Americans aged 57 to 64 reported being sexual active
53% of those aged 65 to 74 reported being sexual active
26% of those aged 75 to 85 reported being sexual active
Women reported less sexual activity than men, perhaps because of the shorter life expectancies of men (meaning there are less men to have sex with in the older age groups).

I remember reading an article about how women's sexual satisfaction tends to peak when they're older (like 40s ?), whereas men tend to have less orgasms after their teens. I don't think this has to do with evolution, but with socialization and personal development. Personally, I think that many women take time to be more comfortable with their bodies and their wants, and that's why the study showed that result.
I also read an article recently, that said that women past 30 are tending to be interested in younger guys when they previously were not. But this article suggested that was because there are less guys available--which is also what hyperlexian is saying.
Edit: I am really making some horrible typos.
