I don't even have a girlfriend yet, but I've already decided I want a small wedding. No more than 30 people, including myself, my bride, and the minister. My grandmother recently passed away, which makes me sad because she'll never see her firstborn grandson get hitched. :(

As for the rest of my family, the only folks I'd want at my wedding for sure are my mother and sister. Having my Dad there would be great, plus my stepmother Dotty. Everyone else I'm not too concerned about, and some would just cause a ton of trouble.

Honestly, so long as we're married both legally and in the eyes of God, every other detail is minor by comparison. If my wife wants to wear a white dress, fine; the same for street clothes...I don't care. I haven't worn a suit in probably 15 years, and would prefer to continue avoiding them.

I want an out door wedding in a field just as the fireflies are taking off. And I have seen instructions for making candle holders out of ice, I think that would be really cool! But first I have to find him.

If I ever found someone who wanted to be with me then I would let them plan it. Weddings are for women anyways and so I would want her to have the wedding that would make her the happiest. If it was left to me, it would be a trip to a notary or justice of the peace-cheap and practical. Then again, I have the feeling that doing so would not make for a happy wife or a long lived marriage.

When my husband and I were planning our wedding, I really genuinely wanted it to be about BOTH of us and I wanted him to have input. That made it OUR wedding. I was not a girl who had my whole dream wedding planned out and it overwhelmed me to try and conjure the whole thing up myself.

We had a wedding in a park and wrote a non-secular ceremony ourselves and created our own vows. (The vow thing was all him because I wasn't sure I wanted to bare my heart and soul in front of a crowd.) We had a sand ceremony where we poured sand into an hourglass that we have as a memento. We folded a thousand paper cranes--not because we are Japanese but because we were watching Heroes one day and decided it would be cool to fold cranes like Hiro did for Charlie. I had a dress that was comfortable and me and didn't conform to fashion. He likes hats and insisted that all of our groomsmen wear fedoras. It was lovely and very us. I had many more complements on the things that we did that were unique and different than the things that conformed with peoples' expectations.

Oh and the paper flowers that are my avatar on the left were on the tables at our reception.
