He was certainly lucky, and did very well for himself.

One scene that cracked me up laughing was when they were in a car and she was like: "We make money and buy house, yeah?" and then she chuckles.

Tongue in cheek remarks like that always make me laugh.

If you thought that Steven was bad (and I certainly wouldn't want to marry him), here is a mockumentary that you might find hilarious

Actually, I think that this contributes towards making the movie so compelling.

If you consider the standard Hollywood Chick Flick (e.g., Titanic, The Notebook), the lead actor is presented as flawless, and capable of causing a woman's vagina to moisten just by looking at her.

Here, Steven's flaws are exposed for the world to see.

This may be the equivalent of a chick flick, but for guys.

If your girlfriend made you suffer through watching Titanic seven times, then you should make her sit with you and watch Seeking Asian Female seven times.

the only problem with all this is
foreigners marrying up with aspies
are disrupting natures outcomes
we are the end of the family line
we should not breed

to do so via immigration
much like our 1850's pioneering forefathers marrying the locals

introducing our [unwanted by our own geneotype females] aspergian DNA into Chinese families
is cheating nature
and possibly wrong for so many reasons
Image
sorry guys but many of us should not spawn
including some Chinese wives who cannot attract a proper husband on their own

Nobody said anything about procreating... one can still greatly enjoy the companionship of someone who's not going to go running off whenever s/he sees something "better".

So your saying intelligent people shouldnt breed? I prefer to have hyper intelligent offspring to better the human race! We really do need it since stupid people are breeding.

I was just imagining us spawning a super-race of highly intelligent Aspie-Chinese hybrids to rule the world, or at least to oversee technological advances.

A lot of guys will even consider a divorced woman whose ex-husband no longer wants her to be off-limits: she is still his property, whether he likes it or not.

"Property"?! !

What kind of ignorant Neanderthal misogynist would think that?

By the way, I suspect that Homo neanderthalis didn't quite acquire the proclivity of hoarding wealth, possessions, wives etc. as seen amongst modern Western Homo sapiens.

We have no way of knowing, of course, but neanderthal attitudes towards breeding and sexual relations may have been more similar to those of bonobo apes than to modern Western humans.

They may have been more relaxed about it. Or, they may have been more like certain species where the alpha male performs all of the troop's copulation with the females.

We would probably like to believe that lower-ranking males also got a piece of the action.

Ok so I saw this documentary at a film festival because the filmmaker is distant relative of mine. So my relatives showed up for the film and they saw me there joking around that the film was educational. And they thought I was younger then I actually am, saying stuff like "you go to the mainland, stay away from haole (white) men".

Of course the point of the film is to address the issue of fetishing asian females which is pretty common. The point is, we are human beings not prize trophy wives. And of course the worst thing is to think that we are submissive. I can tell you, I hell aint.

Yes yes of course, it did frustrate me for some of these aspie men to think, "if only I could get the prize, an asian female". And btw....I wouldn't say that asian's are any more likely then any other races to understand aspies any better. I've irritated my share of aspie males as of this point.

I'm asian and aspie. So I am super human? Oh thank you very much.

It's not about having flaws. Even good people have flaws.

My gripe is that he was only thinking about his own feelings with regard to this "relationship". Not much regard (if any) for what the other person was feeling. And yet somehow he's considered a nice guy.

What sweet things did he do exactly by the way? Because I sure didn't spot any that stood out.

He paid her way to America, bought her flowers, rings, showed her around town, arranged the wedding.

When she said that she wanted to study to be a nurse, she said that was fine. He didn't say "I don't want you to do anything that might interfere with your cooking and cleaning."

I don't consider such actions as him "being sweet to her". Just because he thinks he can make a woman happy with materialistic things that he was taught to give doesn't mean he's being sweet.

And? When she was down and upset, he was all confused about it and didn't give much damn except that he was afraid of her ditching him. His action in response was to call the documentary maker and have her fix the issue between them. He didn't even get rid of those pictures he had of previous girls just for her had it not been for the documentary maker who convinced him to do it eventually. The man seemed to lack much empathy for her.

Good advice.

One can be both a human being and a prized trophy wife. If you were married, wouldn't you like your husband to think highly of you, anyway? Rather than "Hey, this is my wife. I don't like her very much, but, hey, a wife is a wife."

You're American.

Even you have to admit that Steven did quite well for himself, and got a real prize. He surely wasn't going to find anything like that in America.

What would you have wanted him to do?
