pof is another pathetic site.
Also, there's a huge difference between slightly chubby and grotesquely overweight. When most men use the term "whale" to describe women, they're referring to the latter.
Body weight is NOT completely within ones control. There are many factors that contribute to body weight. There are various chemical and hormonal imbalances that can lead to excessive weight. Not to mention different metabolisms. This is especially true of women. There are some that can diet, exercise and still not achieve their desired result.
Who says looks are the primary motivator for women? Most men maybe, but I believe women to be more motivated by personality, status and money. Why else would you see some famous men, who wouldn't be good looking by any conventional standards, with women who most would consider very attractive? You don't see this happening very often in reverse.
And the term "chubby" would certainly vary based on personal opinion. I'm sure my personal definition of chubby would be many guys definition of fat. I see porn videos classified as "chubby" where the girl is just normal looking. She just doesn't have defined abs, isn't muscularly toned, and you can't see her ribcage, things I personally find repulsive on a woman. Some guys would use "whale" to describe women who do not meet this description. It's all relative. I just see the point in throwing out terms like that in an arrogant fashion like you are some gift to the world (not you the first guy who said it)
My friend used POF to find two girlfirends, both of whom are completely psycho. Like REALLY psycho. I wouldn't suggest it based on that.
I'd have to say if you are really serious about finding a relationship and not a hook up, a paysite would be the only way to go. Those people (the real ones) are probably more serious about finding the right person.
What about for low class people who want to find a relationship.
Paid sites are for middle class people who are well off.
Well I'd hardly have called myself well of at the time (or now). At that time I was on unemployment barely getting anything.
But if you can't afford it you can't. I just think that the free ones would attract more transient types who are "just curious". Seems like it would be the online equivalent of meeting your future spouse at local bar on ladies night. Chances= slim to none, disappointment inevitable.
As an interesting side note, when I was doing this online dating stuff it was when eHarmony first came out. I was attracted to their advertisements regarding deeper connections so I wanted to try. It was free so I figured what the heck. Go to the site. It says, complete the test, fill out your info and at the end we'll show you who of our however many thousand people they said they had that match. Ok, I thought. The personality thing was LONG, took like 45 min. As Im doing it I'm thinking, ah this should produce good results at least, very detailed. After I was done, would you believe the thing told me there was literally no one in their entire database that matched me? Not one female! Talk about a kick in the balls! Not a self-esteem builder at all.
That was my first indication that I really was just not like most of the rest of the world.
Eharmony said I was unmatchable and rejected me from their site.

Dating sites are a business and not a public service. Even free sites are there to make money from advertisers and pay features. They market themselves but they can't control how many of which gender sign up. A lot of people also probably use it for hookups instead of Craigslist because they believe it's "safer".
You can't blame the site for the people who sign up for it. I'd also imagine that the membership is in constant change so the longer you are there the better shot you have of meeting somebody, even if that person is only there for a week or two.

1. Too many whales
2. Only whales are interested in you
3. Whenever you do talk to pretty girls, they don't reply.
4. If you're short like me, you're f****d.
5. If you go on a date and you're short like me you're f****d.
6. Don't even f*****g bother if you're ugly like me, you stand no chance!
7. Don't even bother if your social skills suck, you stand no chance!
8. You're a guy out of 100 guys fighting for 1 woman.
So women who aren't skinny are automatically not dating material in your eyes? Yet you are complaining about women being picky about male appearances.
well, I think fitness equivalent isn't an unreasonable request...

Oh it is. Women can have all the standards they want, but a man never dare have reasonable standards.

Everybody can have whatever standards they want. However, if you're getting zip in the way of returned interest and have been trying and failing/flailing consistently for years, the problem may not be the gender you're not succeeding with. It may well be your unreasonable standards.

in a dating environment the m/f ratio is key.

I think the problem come in when they start using deceptive techniques to get you to pay. Not all the site do that but there are plenty that do. One common thing is people will receive the occasional like. Meaning someone said they want to meet them. But in order for the person to find out who like them they have to pay for an upgrade. There are many stories where the likes suddenly stopped coming once they upgraded. Also there are a lot of fake profiles littering a lot if these site.

Tons of websites and not just dating sites do that. I'd think you would get better results at a pay site because the people who have paid to join are probably more serious about it overall than people who just sign up at a free site on a whim. Pay sites would cut down on a whole lot of whim users or folks who sign up just for kicks or what have you. Of course that costs money, but it's like anything else. There are always free alternatives face to face, but not exactly the same, and there is always the element of chance and luck involved. No guarantee, ever just like there is no guarantee you will meet someone if you go to this bar or that club or whatever.

I hate that deceptive advertising. Can't really avoid it though, oh well. But yeah, it is kind of a crapshoot either way. I mean some of the people here have tried some of the paid sites but were said to be unmatchable at the time. Anyways yeah I agree with you.

You find that whole bait and switch false advertising stuff all over the internet. It's not exactly false advertising so it's legal. They want to make money and they do offer you free membership. That doesn't say that you can use all the features just because you are a member. Classmates.com was that way too. I joined with a free membership but to contact most people there it cost money. So, no. Of course now FB has a group for my school so I'm on that and it's free.
As for the paid ones, if you are into the computer dating sites then I'd keep going back to the paid ones. Keep going till your membership is up. You never know when somebody who you would match up with may join.

Funny story. I found my current GF whom I have serious relationship with not in a dating site, but rather in a forum for aspies in my naitve tounge. Now I was REALLY lucky because the forum, which again is not used for finding dates was and is pretty much with zero activity. I monitor it from time to time, and when I saw her post I was like "huh, nobody's here! if you want we can talk by emails" and from there on out we became friends and then a solid couple. I got really lucky because she's extremely high functioning like me and she also lives not far away, so yeah.
By the way, I told her to make an account here so she did, I'm pretty sure she's named scarvesfairy and has like 1-2 posts LOL

This site is the only site that allows anyone on the spectrum to join and talk with other people on spectrum or not. I made friends here that are somewhat on Xbox live. It's pretty crazy what happens. I haven't found a woman that likes to relate to me. It's not a bad thing, just women don't wanna accept me for who I am. So there.

So there.... what?
As to love and relationship I truly believe love shouldn't be forced and while suits others I wouldn't join a dating site if I was single. The thing is, at school it's easy because girls are all around you. later on it's harder to meet girls unless work maybe... you need to go search those interesting places like developing hobbies and socializing/hanging out (whether it may be gym, religious institue, bicycle ride group, etc, etc). The the thing is, although in school and high school it's easy to find the right girl for you, those relationships are either less meaningful or have smaller chance to go on into later stages of life. But who knows... I personally know ppl who are high school sweethearts.
