I think Bernadette mentioned it in the early days she and Wolowitz were dating, as if it were the done thing she knew. She appeared kind of clueless in the early days.

Gosh, if I were to date any of them...maybe Leonard as he looked in the early seasons. But he has too many social niceties for me to like him. I'm not fond of being lied to even if it's to be nice to me. I just see a lie as a lie. I've tried to see white lies in a different light, but it still feels like a betrayal. My literal mind at work. Yeh, honestly, I wouldn't really date any of those characters IRL.

Frankly I found the Big Bang Theory (I watched some episodes, not a loyal follower) bit bigoted against nerds; it was kinda a machine for popularizing the society's prejudices about nerds/geeks; and full of typical tropes (which most are outdated).

It feels like a show made for non-nerds to laugh at “nerd tropes”.

But that’s maybe just me.

There's a target audience upmarket from those techies with some issues there. For every academic who can relate to that, there's an electronics nut who can't.

I should clarify on social niceties...I meant purely lying to be nice, which is what Leonard does a lot of. Plus he's "realistic" as in a bit negative. I like decent manners and self-confidence. :heart:

Raj lies to and goes out with two women at once which makes me think...nah.

The thing I like about those characters though, aside from Sheldon and Amy, the rest of them don't have that need for "space" that a lot of nerds seem to. That's something I've related to, the need for space, but never on the massive scale that autistic men I've known seem to need. It certainly doesn't apply to me in relationships. I wouldn't call myself needy, but autistic men have made me and other women out to be needy. We're not. Men with autism are just often like that.
