The weirdest thing? Instead of being furious with me for touching his wife, he actually offered to reimburse me for the three drinks I'd bought her.

Does not compute...

Maybe he was jealous, and
wanted you for himself?

I'd love it if a girl asked me out to lunch, if she doesn't mind me writing down what she says.

I wouldn't recommend doing that; it might come off as a bit creepy. :P

Yes it would be nice if women were socially expected to ask guys out.

It would make things much easier.

I don't think so. I might be noticeably nervous initially but as long as the person was direct and sociable it would likely be o.k. imo. The problem imo is, most NTs tend to take all sorts of things as what they aren't, at least when it comes to those who are different socially, so they would need to be persistent and direct as well as initiate the exchange.

 sure why not.
It'd be different, thats for sure.
I'd have to pinch myself and make sure I didn't slip into the twilight zone

Why not just keep a digital voice recorder in your pocket?

It's illegal in some areas w/o the consent of both parties.

Dude, I would love it if a girl I liked asked me out. Once I'm in the zone I'm good; it's just approaching people, wondering if I'm being rude, if they're interested, if they care at all...that's the problem for me. I could handle it. I might be a little overexcited for a moment though. XD

If she did, then yes. Other wise, if you had to do it.
Try not to rush it, start of with lunch or something.

Yes, please?

Looks like most aspie guys (and I think most introverted guys with half a brain in general) would love to be asked out by someone they were interested in.

Honestly, anyone I like reasonably well would probably get a positive response if they were to ask me out. At worst, it's a chance to get to know them better; I don't really get crushes like you describe, so your scenario is a bit off in that respect for me.

I was asked out last weekend, it went something like:-
I was sitting next to this girl and she started to talk and then ask me several questions about this and that.

she then asked if i had a girlfriend
to which i replied, No
then she asked if i would like one,
to which i replied, i normally f**k relationships up mate.

a little later she went on to ask her friend about what to buy for her sisters birthday.

i said well you know what to get the girl that has everything?
(the answer being, penicillin)
as she replied, A long fat cock?
i said well nearly right........
it made me laugh and made me take notice of her but ive had enough of shagging i want something that means something.

so being asked out isnt the problem its being asked out by someone that you have an interest in.
