So it's either "Oh ok, he did what he was supposed to do" or "Oh my god! You're not treating me like a princess! How dare you!?"
I think that's why Dave DeAngelo would argue that you should do very little for them, piss em off, and at least have their respect when they decide that maybe they like you just for being stand-up and having some guts. While I do see major shortfalls in his theory, like I'm more for a long term relationship than booty-calls, its pretty clear to me that I'd never want to be with someone who can't respect me. My private life is my sanctuary, I get enough stress at work, enough stress with bills, enough stress with auto repairs and the like, I don't need to add people to my life who do little more than drain me.
