If I was going to have a non-sexual relationship I would still only have one with a woman

I've never even gotten along with women, the sole exclusion being my mother, and that's because she's evolutionarily-predisposed to tolerate me.

No need to get defensive, I was just genuinely curious as to what you meant - never really considered the non-physical differences between genders in this context before - it's interesting...

I'm not defensive- I'm sorry if I came across that way.

I would imagine most sexuals aren't cognizant of gender difference in a romantic context,
divorced from sexual attraction. :)

Why?

I ask because I'm not very good at articulating the sentiment myself.

:)

Maybe not cognizant, but that doesn't mean the differences aren't meaningful. I don't have many friends, but the ones I do have tend to be female for some reason...

I really can't stand being around women, and I've never met one who liked me, either. >.<
My mom says the way I talk intimidates them.
I just don't "get" them...male mannerisms and communicative styles are much more me.

I wonder if that's an Aspie thing? NT males tend to be a little more logical (as opposed to emotional) in their thinking...

For me it's simply the attraction. I'm not in any way (romantically or sexually) attracted to men. All the things you listed earlier that didn't involve sex (the kissing, cuddling etc) I can only ever imagine doig with a girl, whether we had sex or not

Meh. I don't know that it's more "logical", per se...but I don't feel like I'm navigating a mine field with men.

They (in my opinion) seem to say what they mean and mean what they say, and don't mind that I do the same.

I guess I'm attracted to strong, blunt personalities in general, and I find those rare.

This is the root of 99% of my problems with romantic relationships - you'll make someone a great girlfriend! :)

I agree with Nick.

Also, if a relationship - sex = friendship, then
does friends + "benefits" (sex) = a relationship?

Oh, and...I won't go younger than my own age...I'd prefer someone older, actually.

I happen to agree with Kick, as well. You do not need a sexual component to have a romantic relationship.

And no, friends having sex doesn't automatically make a romantic relationship. It really depends on the people in the arrangement.
