You can get mixed signals from a traffic light:

That is the most awesome traffic light ever.

I don't let mixed signals stop me if I'm interested in someone.

It looks as though most people don't pursue. Most people are somehow set up to take the fall. Everyone knows the most vocal people are always in the minority. Thus, from an evolutionary perspective, the proportion of people who are aggressive can only rise unless we get some alternate form of match making system such as online dating or government involvement. When it was popular to decide who your child marries, the number of people who love meddling in other peoples affairs went through the roof! The number of people who were aggressive plummeted! These days, parental intervention is fading away, so it is only right to presume that the number of aggressive pursuers will increase.

Another great question would be what do you prefer? Someone who pursues, someone who is constantly after you?

Aggression leads to violence and jealousy! That is definitely bad!

I will pursue, but not always, and I don't mind being pursued, but I can be a bit thick.

Edit: For example, if I really enjoy someone's company on an intellectual level, I might need smoke signals, semaphore, a tap on the shoulder and a passionate kiss in order to realize that they've changed gears and want to do the nasty.

Pursuit of a partner =/= aggression.

haha Yep! This is probably why I pursued all my past partners. Looking back, there were a few decent people that pursued me but I didn't get it. The ones I did get, I wasn't interested in.
