The Mysterious Ducky Boys!

I would bet that having a DA haircut might have had something to do with their name, too.

lol @ that picture. 5'11 isn't really short though. unless the girl is over 5'11 herself which is a turn off.

also, the 5'3 thing made me laugh, because 5'3 is actually short even for a girl xD
1,8 m is absolutely not short, which makes me wonder if that girl's profile pic is just a joke or at least not to be taken very seriously.

5' 3" equals 1,6 m, which according to this site is the average height for women worldwide.

Thats what I thought too, but all the sources agree it came from their main hang out place being the Duck Pond in the Botantical Gardens.

If you never saw the 1979 movie 'The Wanderers' its a good one about the Bronx gangs c. 1963. Mostly fun movie with just some more serious parts.

Man...these are experiences I never experienced!

When I went to junior high, it was nominally "integrated"--but, in practice, the black/Puerto Rican kids and the white kids were separated from each other. I had no classes with any black kids; it was weird.

Arverne is pretty much a s**thole now; though there is a new "development" there, segregated from the rest of the area, which has condos for about $500,000. Right on the beach.

Pity that Arverne has gone down the tubes. Like most of the rest of Far Rockaway west of Rockaway Park. There are still nice parts on the eastern part of the Rockaway Peninsula.

I lived in Far Rockaway (Bayswater) in the late 1970s.

My Catholic School was totally integrated and about 40% Black, 40% White and 20% Hispanic and we grew up and got along together. We never had problems in school. It was always with outsiders. I ended up on the 'Hit List' of the local gang because I was Captain of the student patrol. But they never got me. Give me three steps and I could outrun anyone. (Went on to lead my High School in medium/long distance Track  )

I used to go to East Rockaway to surf in late 70's till about 81. It was ok then. Went to some parties on the blocks there. Named after States? I saw a youtube video about a nice little surf (and beer) club that's grown up there since Sandy. But I was surfing mostly at Long Beach and West End Jones Beach. The coast is a treasure still. Amazing sometimes what can grow out of the ashes.

Another fellow surfer :) :) :)... Have been near water my entire life... A waterboy born and bred, water in my feet right to my head... random dont know where that came from! 8O lol

Well met. :) I met several Aspie surfers in life and on forums. I think there may be some natural affinity for us to that particular sport. There is a lot of solitude involved and beautiful envirionments. The action itself is , or can be intense... connecting with natural forces in a primal level. And it is challenging - as challenging as you want to make it. There's always a new fear level to master. Natural 'Soul Surfers' absolutely.

But I got away from it early on. I joined the Air Force at age 22 thinking I could get to the bases near breaks, like in Puerto Rico, Australia or Hawaii. Not to be  I picked the wrong career field and the first two closed within a year, and Hawaii was impossible to get. My assignments were always 1000's of miles from the nearest coast, often in pretty desolate places. Deserts mainly. So I had to shift sports . But I also got 6 years overseas in Europe and that was the best.
