Casual sex was dying out before the pandemic
The OP's point is that the occurrence of casual sex is declining (at least in Canada), according to the study he linked to, and that folks may be surprised to learn that it's NOT on account of the pandemic.
Oh okay, thanks I see. But that's surprising because I thought that casual sex really increased over the last few years at least for me. In the last few years women will come right out and ask if I want to hook up and it's never happened before, maybe like once a year, 10 years ago. But now a woman asks me every month. I thought maybe it was feminism and there is a new wave of it in the last few years that has caused women to feel more sexually liberated when it comes to casual sex, but that is just a guess based on my experience. Unless I am wrong?
What's her name and how much does she drink?
Got it! And do you always oblige them?
No not always, depends on the woman. I just thought the desire for casual sex in women has increased in the last few years. I thought maybe it was because of Donald Trump and that maybe women were doing it out of desire to be much more liberal out of response to Trump, but that is just a guess? The timing seemed about right, election wise.
Seriously, I would be shocked to learn that women's libido was in any way affected by politics. At least in Canada, a better theory might be women's reaction to JT appearing on TV to lead the country through the pandemic, everybody knows the sight of him gets the women horny.
It might be a matter of age. I have to assume you're physically attractive for a man your age, and more women near your age are at a stage in life at which having casual sex with an attractive, unattached man is far more appealing than it may have been 10 years ago when they were probably still in the middle of their first really serious adult relationship and perhaps more attached to the idea that sex has to be an expression of one's feelings for another person.
Of course, if you're going to tell me the average age of these women is 19-23 then that blows my theory all to hell.
Oh actually the age of the women has been about 28-40 so far. I am 36. I know it's Canada, but it seems like Canadians have had a huge reaction to American politics the last few years it seems for some reason. But I didn't thier libido was effected by politics, but because of the liberal feminist movement because of politics, women seem more comfortable straight up asking for casual sex. So I didn't think it was a libido increase, but a comfort increase, less shame in it now they feel, or so I thought.
Or maybe they are choosing to be more sexually rebellious out of retaliation and it's retaliation that is doing it and not libido?

Can't speak for every Province, but BC has now had private liquor store options in addition to Provincial ones for more than ~2 decades, with a lot more private ones in recent years. However, they still all get their supply through the government - so prices are still regulated/highly taxed. But inventory types can differ wildly - certain brands available at gov't stores, others only in private stores. Sometimes this is because of supply constraints.. small producers can't supply every gov't store, but can supply a bunch of independents. Other times they're shut out of the big stores due to $$$ not being able to supply/pay for shelf space. A bunch of politics. But anyways, we can buy alcohol in BC at more places than ever - including some major grocery stores now. (wine/cider only, though) And while it IS very expensive, that's never stopped an alcoholic from drinking. People buy cheap stuff from liquor stores vs. drink in bars. etc. There aren't very many people who Really Want to have a drink or 3 on a Friday night but Cannot because they simply cannot come up with the funds. Yes, for sure there are some.. but I'd say in general if people want to drink, they do. Alcohol consumption has been up during covid.
Tinder: 100% people are hooking up on there. I've heard some of their stories. Not as high a % as gay guys will hookup via gay hookup apps, but heteros are definitely using apps to hookup as per stories from both males and females.

Then they came for me. But by then, there was no one left to object.
If you're conservative when you're young, you have no heart! If you're liberal when you're mature, you have no brain!
The only 2 provinces I'm familiar with are Quebec and Ontario. In Quebec, they only have provincial stores that have limited hours. In Ontario, they have provincial stores and they also have something called the Beer Store (maybe not the exact name but an Ontarian will know what I'm talking about) but I think the government also runs that.
At least that was the case 5 years ago. It's possible things have changed.
I've been told you can't get Canadian wine in Quebec because the climate in Quebec is too harsh for viticulture so all the wine is imported. Again just something I've been told.

You should feel more bitterness towards flouting public health guidelines during a pandemic than when you simply have sex with an escort, IMO, because your selfish actions could be spreading a lethal respiratory virus.

I've never been to Ontario or Quebec (or anywhere farther East) and so can't speak to how they do things. Ontario's system sounds similar to what we had here.. full menu gov't liquor stores, and then cold beer & wine stores that stayed open later - but now they also sell liquor so they're much more similar.
I find it extremely difficult to believe taht you cannot get Canadian wine in Quebec. You can get Canadian wine in China ffs.. why wouldn't you be able to buy it in Quebec?

Depends on the public health orders where you live. But if they're like here where households are not to mix, then I suppose it depends on how you mitigated covid transmissions risks. Both wearing masks? N95? P100 respirator? Or our government approved recommendation that people use gloryholes ?

Oh okay then, that explains it. I guess if there is one semi-possible good thing to come out of covid, is that it's a lot easier to get laid now than before it seems. But in a way, it's also not as interesting, because the fun of the chase is not there near as much as before.
