Criteria for your perfect partner
i despise musical notation, i never really saw the point as i can analyse a piece of music and play it back after 1-2 listens, and what with massive, great sounding sample libraries these days, i don't need to write for real orchestras anymore ^.^
sight reading was always the bane of my existance, at uni, i'd be sitting at a piano, playing a stupidly complex piece or something...then someone would come over, plonk a piece of sheet music in front of me and go "could you play that for me, i wanna hear how it sounds"...at which i'd just have to reply "oh sorry, i don't really read, if you give me a couple of days, i could learn it...or, if you have the CD i could play it back"...at which point they'd give me a stupidly baffled look...and not a nice one...kinda made me feel inferior...but i just can't do sight reading!
i had to learn how to read and write to some extent to pass the arrangement (i did NIN for orchestra!) and theory modules of my degree...but these days i just flat out REFUSE to go anywhere near musical notation...lol x
yeah I hate men who want trophy women
thankfully I am not one of them and it will pay off one day
same for you, you sound awesome
Got an alto right here, although I do tend to sing all female ranges. In recent years I've mostly done alto, more because I'm a good part singer than anything.
M. - I love a sight reading challenge, the harder the better - it's been years since I've really been challenged by a piece of chorale music.
I'm happy to start a choir! I've already started and run my own SATB acapella group for a year, and I tried to start another choir this year but people at college are lazy and don't turn up to rehearsals enough. I taught the college choir instead.
Oh, SunShower.. you're asking for trouble there! I think we have our choir, so what are we singing, and where do we meet? Skype practice at 8PM GMT?
M.

SinsB: Ah, but the sound of a good soprano is fantastic - it's just that many I have met professionally keep their egos in the same location as their range - high. *grin*
M.
well, probably not the Aspie ones, M. I am one of those happy little girl auties that sings like a blessed angel. I can get spooked by the egos in the choral section and have been chased out of choirs and ensembles by more than one of those sopranos you can't work with! I can't say I liked being intimidated to leave, but my true voice has never been diminished by their actions. I have always wondered what would have been my future if I had ever been trained in music and in voice. Perhaps in another life, eh?
Merle
Indeed, though it's never too late to explore one's voice. You're right - I've never met an aspie soprano, or a vocalist of any sort, to be honest, who was on the spectrum. Keyboardists, percussionists, composers... but not vocalists, and I knew nothing of the spectrum when I sang. Odd. I'm a grumbly sort of bass, used to be a Bass II (low) but cigarettes aren't good for the voice, so I'm a little raspier and without a few of the ledger lines below the clef that I used to have. Was never comfortable as a vocal performer unless I was working with a full choir.
M.
I can sing in tune, but my projection and control over my voice sucks; I've been meaning to get singing lessons for months now to work on those issues.
Going back to rhythm; my music is difficult rhythmically, not because the individual parts are all that rhythmically complex, but because of the amount of rhythmic dissonance I use: it's not unusual to find things like 2 against 3 against 5 against 7 in my music.

If it's chorale trouble, then that's the kind of trouble I like.
I ended up dropping the university choir this year because we only did classical and the parts were too boring. I wasn't challenged enough. I've gone a whole year without choir (for the first time since I was like 4) because I was too fussy and picky about joining a new choir (my main one outside of school is only for school age kids), and only wanted to be in a good one. Now, after a year, I'm fussy no longer and I think I'll join at least two choirs next year. My ambitions to start another choir will have to go on hold until I can find a more committed cohort, but I'm sure I'll assist in teaching the union choir (which runs for part of the year for an intercollege competition) again.
I love to be challenged by a piece of chorale music, and I also love to sing a great variety of chorale music, and in varying ranges. Which is why teaching is good; I can sing every part.

Same here basically, I dont need them to have good looks but it would be a nice extra!
Also, I would like her to understand my Aspie traits (or be a Aspie herself even) or I know it will eventually get screwed up.

Having high standards is the reason I have never gone out with a boy, so he just has to be taller than me and not be a total dickwad. Those are my only criteria.
Zxen, why does she have to be vegetarian? Just asking, cos I'm a vegetarian myself but I could probably date someone who eats meat as long as they don't act like an a**hole about it (which rules out most of the boys at my school). Though the rest of your list seems fair enough.

There are several items on the list that I agree with (1-5, 11) - and 12 is something that I have desired in a mate my whole life... but I find that the rest is really subjective, has little bearing on who the person is, and feels a little selfish. Not that it's a bad thing - just not for me.

I would agree but the type of teenage girls that are everywhere really piss me off by acting stupid etc. so I need these standards if I want a girlfriend or I'll go mad with the annoying voice and the stupidness! Or I'll just be alone for my whole life... Meh.
I'm at it again. Spotted this set of criteria by our own mega-sweetheart Pensieve and just HAD to reply. Here we go again; She wants . . . .
1.) "Honesty"
I'm an aspie. Done.
2.) "Someone who will accept me for who I am (However odd I may seem)"
I'm pretty odd too, so thinking we will match up here pretty well.
3.) "Patience"
Not naturally that way, but learned early. The hard way. Had it beat into me. Don't recommend it. Also, extreme laziness can, occasionally, be mistaken for patience. Either way . . . done.
4.) "Romantic"
This is a tough one. All I can really say about this is that if you traveled 3 hours to see me, we wouldn't be playing video games. Not sure that's what you're going for though. Think I'd need a clear definition of this one.
5.) "Sensitive"
Ohhhhh boy, yes. WAY too damn sensitive. There is a huge list of films/movies that I love but won't watch--I'll be blubbering like a little girl halfway in, and that's not a good thing at all. Nobody wants to see that, me included.
6.) "Open-minded"
See that "empty-headed" thing in the last attempt to match up with somebody's list. It still applies.
7.) "Either meat-eater . . . "
Remember that thread about what do you like to feed upon? I'm the paleolithic hunter. Roaring fire. Dead buffalo. I'm cool.
8.) Someone . . . talk things out"
Done. You've doubtless spotted a few of my posts. Need I say more?
9.) "Tall, dark-haired, fair-skinned and thin."
Wow. We are hitting on all cylinders now! That's me right there.
10.) "Well-dressed . . . "
Ooops. I'm a tight pants dude and I don't know about dashing at all. Is that like being fast? This must be Aussie slang. So cute.
11.) "Similar taste in music"
I'm a pro w/music. Rock. Blues. Soul. all kinds. No country though (apologies to Hank Williams).
12.) "For some reason . . . graphic designer."
Oh-oh. I can't draw water, much less a recognizable image. This isn't looking good.
13.) "(don't date musicians)"
Damn. I am shot down again! I'm a pro guitarist and have been most of my life. But I do agree with you about bass players--they are quite a bunch. Frustrated guitar players if you ask me. For some reason, they do not like hearing that though. A touchy group too, come to think of it.
Ah well, Pensi, looks like I'm yet again quite out of luck. Too bad too, cuz Aussie accents really wind me up. Besides, I'm old enough to be your . . . weird uncle. Anyways, you're a cutie with a great smile and good luck. I'm sure you will find a great guy there in New South Wales. Just don't drive 3 hours to meet him. And stay away from those bass players. ![]()

It's more about being willing to work out relationship problems instead of ending things after the slightest disagreement.

Romantic gestures, like I've never spent valentines day with someone or no one has really bought me roses or celebrated an anniversary. A picnic would be nice.

I don't mind tight pants, just not 'emo tight'. Dashing, I guess it means handsome.

I like those dirty rock bands. Messy hair, sideburns, checkered shirts, boots, etc. The music is quite good too, lol.
Oh-oh. I can't draw water, much less a recognizable image. This isn't looking good.
The last person I date was a software engineer and he stayed on his computer a lot. I just want someone that isn't married to their job.

I'd probably give a musician another shot, they just get obsessed with it, even when I come around to visit. Another thing is if they get popular they get fangirls and groupies
Thanks
I wear tight pants or jeans usually with high shoes and a short jacket. I think I look hot and i feel tough, more so than if i wear a skirt or dress because when i go out in a skirt i dont know if i am going to fight or not and a side kick doesnt look too pretty with a skirt on or too revealing and same with dresses or buttons. I had this dress that buttons from the bottom to top and once my 'so called' bf, when i wanted to be left alone! grabbed me and in man handling he ripped my dress open in front of all his friends. No one stopped him. They all just being perverts! Same with skirts or soft material. Thats another story but in my experience women clothes are not so safe to walk around in.
some lists here match me lol
My personal one I suppose would have to be
1. Intellegent (Not that one must know every word in latin but must be smart enough to have a laugh and witty. I love witty people, though I need to work it)
2. Long hair. I lurve a guy with long hair
3. Stubble. Not so much that its over a centemetre but enough to rub your face against...
4. Sensitive to a point. I would like them to appreciate some things with me but other times I don't want them acting like a friend rather than a boyfriend...
5. Video Gamer. So they could put up with my video gaming
6. Accepting
7. genuinly attracted to me
8. Funny
9. Kind
10. Loyal
