Gosh, Kraftie, you must have had your cloak of invisibility on, or else I was lost in Aspie focus. That happens. I am guessing you might already be gone for the evening tonight, but if not, I will be up just a bit later.

As you can see, I was just sketching in graphite last night. But look, I still have gradations to represent the sky. You'll notice I five different sketches in this book. I have the beach with pier, the tables on the outdoor patio, a view looking toward the board walk, and this close up of a cute little crab who came up to investigate. Then it got too dark to see. If you had come over to stand in front of me, you'd be in the picture, too! Definitely do that next time. I won't be upset that you have disturbed me, I'll be pleased to see you! The same thing might happen if I am sitting out here on the patio reading a book. Unless there is a lot of ambient noise, the rest of the world just disappears.

LOL...that's something I should have thought of: the Bar having a patio LOL.

This could be an example of a narrowing of meaning in an autistic sense. I just don't think of bars as having patios, usually. But, of course, many of them actually do. Then it becomes more like a "bistro," in my mind's eye.

I was thinking that you had established yourself at a location right next to the bar, with an easel. In my experience, I have found that artists tend to be in a highly-focused mode, with some of the nastier ones actually being nasty should you "disturb" him or her. I am most glad that you are not of that disposition--that you have class. I find that people should have at least superficial respect for others.

This is the sort of bar where people can come in, early in the morning, and just socialize. People won't look at you askance, or think you're an alcoholic because you are in this particular Bar at this point in time. It's a place where one can escape their woes by having pleasant discourse with others, should the desire hit them. The Sunrise is most colorful here on non-overcast days; and the fauna of the area tend to not bother people, and to delight in people observing, yet not disturbing, them.

The breeze always has the scent of Lilacs.

Hello. I'm glad the morning is good for most of you. I'm decent.
Can anyone see my picture?
I'm scared to post that question on any forum, even the one with the admins.
The other threads are not going so well for me.

Where's your picture?

Also: patience is a virtue. You'll do okay in the end. You're honest and upfront about things.

Yes, John. It will be okay. True, I have only been hanging out at Wrong Planet for a year or two.. I just didn't know what to expect, or if it was "safe". I suppose everything in life has some risk, and Asperger's traditionally makes it tougher to figure out what the risks are and how much weight they carry, so, I get it. I actually just read posts for the first few months, then made a few tentative posts myself. I do not think anyone really replied or noticed me particularly at first, either, so I do not think that is personal. Actually, Auntblabby and I struck up a conversation or two, and that got the ball rolling. I am with Kraftie on this one, you seem pretty upfront, I think you'll do fine. Not every post will get responses, but that is okay. Some of the forums are more for hanging out. Just read a few, and decide which ones you might enjoy, and go for it! Best of luck! :D

How was your day, GeekChic?

I see that your painting is also complete. What a beautiful Spectrum of sky!

Would would you like to dine on?

Hi Kraftie! 'So nice to see you here tonight. What are you in the mood for? I was thinking of maybe Japanese...or perhaps a salad of some sort; anything you want, but maybe not too heavy. Do you like spring rolls? They make a nice appetizer.

I like noodle teriyaki types of dishes....and spring rolls.

I'm getting a super-large Cherry Grenadine. What would you like?

How would you feel about "Walking in the Rain with the One I Love?" Barry White's group did it. He was the one who answered the phone in the song.

Barry White? Oh, my! Well sure, why not? Yes. Pick any noodle dish, that sounds fine to me, I like most things, actually. Tonight I would like some hot Jasmine tea with a little fresh mint. I can just walk out back and pick a sprig from one of the pots of herbs growing on the patio. My day was nice today. I did some yard work, then some illustration work, then went to the zoo! There was virtually no one there! It was lovely. We have a new fairy penguin exhibit. :D

How was your day?

I took my mother to a furniture store, and she bought two pictures. She is changing her living room.

She was happy. She's 82 years old, and much healthier than last year.

I listened to lots of Philadelphia soul when I was 12-13. My father would take me to the beach, and it would be on the radio.

Oh! That is nice. I am glad she was happy. :D You must be a very good son.
My Mother lives with me now, but she is only 76. She is in good health, physically. It is very rough for me, however, because she and I have never really gotten along....ever. I do not think she likes me much, for one. Also she keeps thinking I am going to somehow become less like myself.

Suffice it to say I was/am NOT the little girl she had in mind! Still....I remember the interview with Temple Grandin when she was asked if it was unreasonable for a parent to expect an autistic child to ever love them?!? (strange question) and she hesitated, then said something along the lines of: "That child will be very loyal. If your house is on fire, your child is going to get you out." It is that over-arching sense of responsibility and loyalty that gets me through the day sometimes.

It is nice that you have good memories of your Father, too! Is he still living? Mine is not. I do enjoy soul, but I also really like funk!

I like funk, too. Sly and the Family Stone, Flashlight by Parliament-Funkadelic.

My mother tends to treat me like a child, and is condescending. In her words, she is "making an effort," though.

My father is still alive and 84 years old. He walks with a cane, but his mind is healthy. Did you get along with your father?

My parents got separated when I was 11. The divorce became final later in the 70s, but really they were divorced upon separation.

I wish your mother would treat you better now that she is living with you.

Are you enjoying your meal?

Oh, I am, yes. It really IS delicious! I do not know how this bar makes enough money to pay this talented chef, but I will leave a big tip, certainly! I apologize for the less than upbeat conversation. I got carried away, I suppose. I have heard that all mothers treat their children like...well...children. It may be difficult for them to ever realize that we are grown. I suspect that for parents of "special needs" children, it may doubly so. I put those words in quotes because, while I do not see myself that way, I know that she does.

I had a biological father that I only saw until I was 8, then not again for 20 years. I saw him about three times before he died, though. My step-father and I got along well enough, I guess. He has been dead about 12 years. Neither of my parents ever thought I was 'trying hard enough' and I think both really struggled to deal with me. I do not blame them, really. We are all who we are.

Let's talk about more pleasant topics! What shall we do after dinner? Shall we dance, sit outside, walk the beach, play a game? I am up for anything! Do you have any hobbies?

I feel like taking a walk with you...to a point on the beach where I can fall asleep. It's a long distance, and we can speak of very pleasant topics, indeed. This will aid in our digestion as well.

Your hair is flowing in the breeze, and its scent permeates my immediate environment. Your Chic-ness comes out naturally, and in harmony within our conversation.

Please....let me escort you to your abode, or as near your abode as possible, so that I can be assured of your safe arrival to your sanctuary.

This is not goodbye....I just bid you adieu temporarily, for I am delighted in your company.

I must rise early tomorrow, with the Sunrise.

I hope, indeed, to see you tomorrow here. Lobster will be on the menu.

Why Kraftie, I must say I am impressed! Nearly all readers interpret 'chic' as 'chick' rather than the French term for sophisticated and stylish. I rented a little cottage just three miles down the beach to use as a Summer studio. Can you walk me that far? With conversation it goes quickly. I am deriving so much relaxation and inspiration from the beach and the bar, I may have to look into purchasing it. I will go down to the docks tomorrow morning when the fishing boats come in and get a couple of lobsters. You get some rest, as will I, and hopefully we meet up tomorrow night. Sleep well.
