Why is that most people marry within their own race?

I'm not so physically attracted to white or other non-black women, but I still respect them as people and don't like it when other guys put any ethnicity of women down. It's one thing to find certain physical features more attractive, and I see no harm in that, but I cannot tolerate treating people with general disrespect along ethnic lines.

Maybe it's just me, but a relationships can be difficult enough to get to succeed without adding something like dating across cultures to the mix.

You're talking about the inherent way someone was taught to view the world, which all of us absorb to some extent. It's not to say that they can't work, but I know firsthand that it can be more difficult unless both people are accepting, open minded and not controlling.

Especially since the other partner does not necessary have the benefit of your experience. Many previously "small things" can easily become big things if neither or only one person is prepared to consider the others point of view and experiences.

For many people it is more comfortable or easier for them not to have to deal with all of that, and therefore it makes more sense to date someone from their own culture or sub-culture.

Good luck but to be honest, you should be less selective in who you go for. If you end up marrying someone based on superficial attraction, the marriage won't have a solid foundation, you need to really focus on compatibility and someone who is willing to tolerate and be patient with certain spectrum traits.

lol. The "black is beautiful" kind've inverted that and there's 'reverse snobbery' from darker skinned blacks against lighter skinned blacks. Or at least, some women claim that. Me, not being female and getting into that catty BS, cannot say one way or another. But an former g/f of mine (mixed black/filipina and can pass as mixed white or puerto rican depending on how she does her hair and dress) claims so....



LOL. You know what? I should try that the next time I'm in a 'formal' relationship. One girl I talk to (shes mexican) was all "well i'm not a perfect cook but I won't burn down the house if you ask me to make cereal" lol =P

EDIT: Ive heard so many white people (on the internet! - "MGTOW" or "men's rights" movements) say "white women are bitchy and annoying".....and I'm all like 0.o really? They don't SEEM like it. Then again I remember that "Bared fangs" and how girls hide certain personality traits until later -_____-

Well I'm not very attracted to black or middle eastern people personally... Hispanic and asians are attractive though. But the issue with hispanics and black people is that you tend to realize that all these "racist" stereotypes are there for a reason... It's because many of them are those stereotypes. So uhm yeah...

This thread has opened lively debates! Having said that, I am a mixed race Aspie, and engaged to marry a Caucasian Aspie. As far as I was concerned, as soon as I learned that he was on the autistic spectrum and was also a member of MENSA, I was interested. In our first interactions, I also detected a caring, sensitive personality that I appreciated. It had nothing to do with his skin color. I had been looking for a man who would understand me, and that I had a pretty good chance of understanding. I didn't much care what color he came wrapped in. All of these conjectures on here partly amuse me and partly annoy me, because in the end none of it matters. When you find the right one, it will amaze you and hopefully blast those worn out stereotypes all to hell!

I'm currently seeing a girl that is half Jamaican and I'm half Brazilian. We aren't tree swingers and reefer smokers and our skin definition isn't entirely related to our heritage. So not sure how to answer the thread from my POV. I'd imagine it's common because of similarities between the 2 people culturally speaking or simply a case of geographical circumstance

Jamaican and Brazilian are nationalities, not races. It's like being "Half American"...

Because we don't find them attractive.

I've never been attracted to dark-skinned people except Asians. I'm starting to find Hispanic women irresistible, something that I never considered. I'll never be attracted to black women. You can hate all you want. I'm not a racist. I just don't find them attractive. Some mulattoes are really hot though.

Fair point. But they are still for the most part are 2 separate races, and I believe Jamaicans are of a different race from them. I would list the 3 race groups but it will offend people as they will see the scientific names and associate only the derogatory terms with them.

LOL, dude, I take it you haven't ventured from the Southern USA in your entire life. There are East Indian Jamaicans, White Jamaicans South Asian Jamaicans and Black Jamaicans. There are also white Brazilians, Black Brazilians and Amerindian Brazilians.
