Probably because I am a Quebecker, my first thought on "Gaston" is generic middle aged Quebecois male with a beard, beer belly and a propensity to begin and end sentences with English swearwords (ah f*ck man, mon boss la, il est vraiement stupid, c*cksucker, make me work demain, colis bastard)

Women like all types of men you just gotta to figure out what type of man you are and find the girl that likes that type of man.

True you have to like her type as well but you could just like her and not her type.

Guys should be little more pickier than that.

people mostly like different things. there isn't even any agreement on idols in popular culture. if you look at Catherine Zeta-Jones vs Paris Hilton, for example... or Ryan Gosling vs Russell Brand, you can see they differ in looks and personality yet each is quite popular.

Taking the women you mention as an example.. they seem different at face value, but when you consider all possible types of women, those two aren't that different. It's also noteworthy how black women feel the need to 'whiten themselves up' in various similar ways to be perceived as attractive, which is terrible. This does vindicate my argument here though.

Russell Brand is another interesting one. I notice that he credits the books of Neil Strauss for learning how to be uber successful with women. http://www.amazon.co.uk/The-Rules-Game- ... 427&sr=8-3

no, the women are pretty different in personality and appearance, but if it is skin tone that makes them similar we can compare... Halle Berry and Angelina Jolie.

I will agree that there's some degree of variation in who can be considered glamourous. But it seems undoubtable that certain people and characteristics have to be excluded so that the idea of 'glamour' can exist.

Also people who are within the realm of 'being glamourous' seem to mostly be individuals spotted by 'the industry' and given public personas that match current trends. I'm imagining Rihanna and Nikki Minaj in particular here. Two black Caribbean women with caucasian wigs, practised American accents etc. Michael Jackson is another one. In most cases I think, the more famous a person is, the more they need a persona manufactured towards current ideals of glamour and attractiveness.

NB - Michael Jackson apparently wasn't a caribbean woman.. I meant he is notable for being transformed to match ideals etc.
