That's totally not the same thing boo and you know it.

Looks do matter to most humans. But the majority of ppl are neither love island contestants nor the ugly types sly posted.
The majority are in between and if one is clean and tidy and not obese one has a chance.

I think what we feel you're saying to us is that women will only date Ryan Reynolds and Calvin Harris look alikes. Sure they're hot, but we know most guys don't look like that and don't expect men to really look like that.

Everyone is limited to his or her own options, fantasy is one thing and what is attainable is another thing.

The majority of people do accept what is attainable in a partner. Look at them all out there living their lives.

Exactly, but that doesn't mean they become totally blinds.

Couples usually are often, at the same level of attractiveness of each other, or at least there's no remarkable gap.

When there's a remarkable gap, which is an extreme minority, people look at them as the odd couple (ie. very tall and attractive woman with very short ugly man), you know that it's true.

And?

I feel like you're just trying to have the last word.

Since you mentioned these 2 celebs, then it means looks does matter to you to a degree.

For you (maybe other women don't), those two men have the ultimate handsomeness - the more the attainable guy's looks is closer to their level of looks the more you would find him attractive. No?

No woman outside this forum can pick up on anything, you're not mind-reading beings. You're just simple humans as us the men, you don't have such superpowers.

Look, it's not really a matter of woman or man, but when someone says something which I find too unbelievable, then it's hard for me to relate to that; not necessarily he or she is lying but I simply can't believe he/she really meant what this person just said or probably he/she didn't realize it or give it a truthful thought.

Let's say for example a devout Muslim told me he saw a djinn last night dancing in his room, should I believe him because I am supposed to consider him that he understands his own thoughts and experiences? I am atheist, so of course I won't believe him! ( or I would think he smoked something) - I don't believe in djinns as much I don't believe that most humans are capable not to care about looks (including face, body, height ....etc..anything related to appearance) *at all* when it comes to attraction (yes, I do understand that it's not a priority to many).

Oh, and if I don't believe him then I suppose I would be called islamphobic by you who thinks of "devout Muslims don't understand their own thoughts and feelings and are always lying or in denial about them". Gimme a break.

For me, an unbelievable thing, is an unbelievable thing. Period. No need for further drama.

You are so limited by the generalizations you make about women in your posts, and you can't even seem to perceive that limitation. There is no purpose attempting to communicate with you further, as you won't actually hear me and will just interpret whatever I say based on your bias. It doesn't matter what I say if you can just immediately dismiss it as me being a lying woman in denial who doesn't even understand her own mind.

Alright well just because you find something hard to believe or relate to...doesn't mean its appropriate to accuse people who post here of 'lying' just because you personally have a hard time relating to what they have posted.

So you wouldn't date those two in the pictures? If no then looks do matter. I never said women only date super hot guys. Average guys will be attractive to most women. Purely that looks don't matter is an entirely false black/white statement. Most if not all women like most if not all men won't date someone they find ugly no matter their personality. Part of a relationship is being physically intimate, which most people can't do with someone they don't find the least bit physically attractive.

I know you find me ugly like most women. You wouldn't date me but we get along well in our chats.

In between only dating hot people and looks don't matter is the reality.

^^^ mostly true, however (and there's always one of these) the reason "looks don't matter" or to be more accurate about it, the reason it becomes irrelevant where it may have played a part to begin with is because no one, regardless of gender, would stick around with someone if their personality was unpleasant.

If all you're interested in is serial-dating then yes, if you're considered unattractive, you're s**t out of luck. If you want to get to the next stage, then yes, I'd suggest looks aren't everything.

And nor should they. Why is there shaming going on for something like this.
With that said, even a less than physically appealing person may grow on one with enough time and exposure.
People DO date-down, if you will, for reasons other than a bank balance.
Just as people leave when the person they are with looks fine enough, but turns out to have all the charm of a turd.

ETA stuff I forgot.

But that would be looks aren't all that matter. Which is quite different then looks don't matter. One means you don't solely base your decision on someone's looks, the other means you'd date someone no matter how much they look like makes you want to vomit.

I dont know what serial dating is, but if a girl finds me unattractive she isn't going give the chance to get to the next stage. They won't even exchange messages and in person they just flat out ignore me.

Clearly people must feel shame if they try to hide it. It seems to make you sound like a better person if you say looks don't matter to me. I'd guess.
How do you get time and exposure though if they won't even message me back, non less meet up in person.
I'd wager a lot of good looking people are rather selfish and mean at least from my experience. Years of being made to feel they're better then less good looking people I suppose

All I have going for me is my personality. Which is only 1/3 of the pie, even thing it's probably not the personality most women would like. I'm no dominanting or strong. I, submissive and weak. I have a kind personality that tries to save bugs and animals rather then killing them for fun or running around in the woods getting muddy and ticks. Not a manly man I guess is quickest way to explain it. While it seems most women want a strong manly man who can provide, has a six PAck abs , handsome face. I dont know what to do anymore and my situation won't ever change.

I don't think they're lying; the key word is delusional.

Exactly like how the researcher suspected her students when they told her looks don't matter, yet when she tested them it turned out they were delusional about it.

I've just realised Calvin Harris is a bad example. I started thinking he was cute after I saw him interviewed during his early geeky stage and I just thought his personality was lovely. He was kinda quiet, but also kinda funny. It was an ITV show called The hot desk.

Anyhoo. Back to the topic.

I do think this is an aspire* black and white thinking thing.

Guy is attractive or not attractive. No inbetween. No shades of grey.

Women either like only attractive men or they don't. No shades of grey. No in between.

Women are delusional or they are not. No nuances.

There's no point arguing with black and white thinking. It's like talking to a flat earther.

*aspie is not a word in reductive text it seems

Well, It's you and Sweetleaf and others are thinking in black/white too, we tell this study shows that looks matter to women to a degree, then you tell us no you care about personality. Saying that looks matter doesn't mean it's the only thing that matters or even it's the first priority. No one claimed that here.

But your white/black mindset took it as a claim that you only care about looks.

Look, guys like me (very short), like sly (he claims to be not a looker and overweight), and like Sabreclaw (he claims to look like a monster)....etc and like many others know very well first hand, based on experiences and observations and our observation of their reactions to handsome men and handsome celebs in general, that the claim that women generally don't care or even care less about looks than men, is so untrue.

And this study just confirms this reality.

I think women have some variation of what they find attractive looks wise. But finding someone attractive others find ugly is different from dating someone you find ugly.

I think it's the women doing black/whit thinking :p I think we'd all like to think good of ourselves too. I thought I could date a woman I find unattractive it who's personality I liked, but upon trying found I couldn't. I'd be curious how many of these women dated guys they found ugly and still date them today. Also as a guy if I found out the girl Im in a relationship with finds me ugly I'd end it. I want her to find me physically attractive not just personality. Mean imagine you ask honey am I pretty and get " no your super ugly but I love your personality" how'd you feel? I'd think most people want to be physically attractive to their partner.

I don't think women are any different then men when it comes to liking looks. Why is it women insist that they are different and better then men and don't care at all about how a guy looks? Even women look at other women and tell if their pretty or not. I've also seen them call guys ugly and said who'd date him. So besides asexual people given our purpose as a species is to mate we do find people attractive and unattractive depending on physical traits which we find attractive can vary as some women and men have differing opinions while the majority share a common idea of attraction depending on culture. I simple can not believe a non asexual woman wouldn't care about looks at all. She might date a guy most women find ugly but she fine attractive but I doubt she'd date a guy she finds ugly even if most women find the guy hot.

Looks certainly wouldn't be top on my determination for a relationship, it is however the first thing we see before we ever talk to the person and before you get to know their personality. It generally starts the crush/like phase that drives us to want to get to know them more to learn their personality. But if looks truely mean nothing, I'm sure you can find an ugly guy who will have a personality you like. I've seen some great personality ugly women, sadly I'm not as advanced as women I suppose, so I can't bring myself to kiss someone I'm not physically attracted to :(

I was under severe depression when I said those things. Now I'm scaling it back to "comfortably unattractive".
