My point, really, is that people don’t, all of a sudden, “lose their looks” when they’re in their 30s-40s.

In response to the original topic I would consider myself attractive and I'm not afraid to say so.

I work hard on maintaining appearance and skincare, I eat ridiculously healthy and stay away from too much sun on purpose. I lift weights because it helps with the physique. You don't put all that effort in to say you look ugly, I would lose motivation in seconds if I did that which is stupid.

The thing is though, when you keep putting yourself down and tell yourself you aren't good looking enough you start to believe that and this just causes further insecurity issues.

I have known some seriously ugly looking people in my life, like worse than Prince Charles and yet they found the ability to love their body and were much happier as a result because they accepted themselves. If you can get over this "oh I don't look good enough" nonsense then you will just generally feel a lot more mentally healthy.

Speaking as an ugly lump of saturated fat it isn't nonsense it is something you cannot get around.

@Lunella: I'm sure you could "kick ass" and probably deprive yourself of a lot of delectable culinary treasures from the local bakery or deli. Personally I don't quite have the self discipline for living off lettuce leaves and the only benefit is one wouldn't feel quite so guilty eating that in front of the dog!

@Thunder: Not easy to maintain a healthy weight but a bit of walking and running helps. I've always been quite trim as a result but need to watch out before my own scale starts giving me the finger.

I massively disagree sorry, you can overcome negative thinking. I've seen people who are ridiculously obese overcome that and learned how to love themselves.

@envirozentinel
I don't deprive myself of anything I just do tons of exercise, you can eat like a horse and still be slim if you're an active person, running for example. I will literally shove profiteroles into my face hole with no regrets cause I know the next day I'll be doing a 15 mile walk or a big run or something.

Cutting fat is not as hard as everyone seems to think it is, it's literally just cal counting and exercise with a bit of strategy. It's just applying the motivation to actually do it that is the problem for a lot of people.

I personally eat quite healthy though because when you're a certain level of health you can feel more s**t depending on what you eat.

I have not taken regular exercise for twelve years or really any exercise. I no longer leave the house because I hate the noise out there.

Some can some can't. I'm trapped in the latter camp on a lifetime basis.

Is it not possible for you to move / live somewhere quieter? I know how noisy central parts of cities can be.

I'm in a village with a chronic rat running problem and a local authority who claim not to have enough money to impose a weight restriction. Everywhere you go around here is noise, noise, noise without escape. Each time a lorry goes by it shakes the house. Roar, bang, crash every few minutes.

I have no money to move anywhere and there is no social housing at all in this area not that I would want to live on a slum dump grade estate which is all there is around here. In any case, I don't meet the criteria.

STUCK.

I'm sorry you have to put up with that.

Once, years ago I drove to what I thought would be a peaceful rural town about half an hour's drive from the small city I was staying in, to do a run there, only to find that it was noisy and full of trucks - not at all a peaceful rustic backwater!

I use "white noise" i.e. put calming music on when there's a background noise such as an angle grinder. It helps to a certain extent.

It's in the "post a pic of the real you" thread, I've posted like 5 pics! :P

Good Lord! you are utterly gorgeous (sorry I know that's not what you wanted to hear from a creepy 52 yr old)
Have you considered starting a youtube or instragram account? you could make a lot of money

I've been fantasizing about doing this lately because of how miserable I am at my full time job.
Come onnnn, guys, let's get this going. :P

I have an Instagram but it's private.

Also: thanks, wow, I wasn't expecting to get compliments but I really really appreciate them. It really lifted my spirit, I've been having a really rough time lately. Thanks, friends. <3

It surprizes me when women say I am attractive.
