I miss winterguard, although it isn't dancing in the social sense.

Went to a party. No dancing, just a lot of drinking and beer pong. So I sneak to the laptop and switch the music to "Apache" by Sugar Hill Gang. The girls start doing the Jump on it Dance right away.

Win. :D

Trust me, not every guy would think "what's the point" in that situation. You've just named the one situation that I'm comfortable dancing.....

That being said, I think that there's a distinction to be made here. I'd say that what you're talking about is foreplay. What I was originally asking about doesn't fall quite that far down the intimacy road. Dancing in the bedroom with somebody you're already involved with to some extent just isn't the same as dancing in public with a date or near stranger. That's the situation I'm personally concerned about. All of my defensiveness, akwardness, and confidence issues come into play in public, not in the bedroom.

(well may-be Dink0) You know if it wasn’t for the smoke and load music and bright light and drunken men a bar would be an alright place to go meet people!

If my own experience is anything approaching normal for aspies, I do pretty well once I'm in a one-on-one situation (like dancing in the bedroom). It's when the public situations where I start locking up. I get distracted, self concious, and basically go into sensory overlaod from the loud music and bright lights. Unfortunately, that's where 99% of dancing is likely to occur. Looking at dancing as the gateway to making other breakthroughs, that causes a real problem

I'd love to take swing lessons, but there aren't many venues where I live that have swing nights, and I haven't been able to find anybody else to take lessons with (and I've tried). Even if it's not required for the classes, I'd be more comfortable with somebody familiar around to rescue me if I start to overload.

I'd like to think that when slow dancing you just close your eyes and feel (inside ,and the rest of your body, not with your hands) well maybe a little bit hands, if it feels good I think that it probably feels good to your partner?( that's just me, I know) if not, you have the wrong partner. the dancing thing is just that so many times most of the touching evolves only the genitals and there a lot of nice places to touch that’s not between your legs. it turns me on 10 times more for some one to run there fingers crossed my back and shoulders to feel there breath on your neck , my chest on there chest , while they are holding you.Dancing. but i am not really trying to sell this to some one that dosen't want to buy it, so.. hey, may be that’s just me, may be I’m a pervert, won't be the first time that some one accused me of that (today even) probably wont be the last. If you guys don't like it. OK, who am I, different strokes for different folks!
and I thought about 15 years ago I wanted to take swing lessons too and (went by my self) I couldn't take it I wasn't thinking that there, strangers, guys, together, I don't know what I was thinking, that was the point, to dance with guys?, but, I ended up leaving I couldn't handle it. but who knows most of this stuff it just theory and unproven with me, just cause it works in dreams/fantasy doesn’t mean it dose in real life, I know, but I just would like to think It would. I was married for 10 years were he barely touched me let alone dance I guess it been about 15-16 years sends I have really danced with a real man, i danced at a friends wedding about 5 years a go with a friends 21 year old gay son and he kept saying ooh mommy your so sexy he was drunk, my favorite not just drunk, underage and gay. My luck.

There you go talking dirty again! (not that it's not entertaining  )

I know what you're saying about bad luck with the wrong age/orientation. I live in a small town which doesn't have a specific "gay" bar. But one of the local dives is sort of the unofficial hangout. It's the local, redneck, college, gay, lesbian, townie bar. I've stopped going there because every time I've managed to strike up a decent conversation with a promising gal, she's turned out to be a lesbian (and I've had a few interesting nights surrounded by half a dozen gay girls as a result, but that's not usually my goal....). One case in particular just about killed me because she was giving off all of the right signals. Until she told me that because her girlfriend wasn't interested in me, we couldn't date or even be friends!

This distressingly amazing young lady has taken to teaching me East Coast swing lately. I've never been one to touch anyone else or want to be touched in return... but ummm... *blushes* she's awful nice and soft.

Yep! Learn how to swing dance and you'll improve your chances. :)

But I don't want to dance. I've always refused to dance, even at schools. And in the previous message I already gave my reasons for it.

I just want a woman who simply accepts me as a whole in spite of my commitments to certain radical ideas.

edit:
I don't have a commitment against dancing, I just don't in the slightest way enjoy dancing. Period.

Humans dance for the same reason animals dance, and that is for there mate, to seduce there mate in to having sex/mating, it’s just as simple as that! And that’s not illogical is natures way of insuring the next generation,(and I’m not talking star trek) Have you not watched any of those shows about spiders, birds, all different animals dancing to lure a mate? and there is all kinds of animals that make noise as singing a song while they are dancing, they are even trying to teach pandas in china to dance to increase there low sex drives (because it even turns pandas on) because there so few of theses endangered species, the zoo keeps or hoping that if they can turn the bears on, then the more sex and more chances for baby pandas. Have you not seen any one dance before?? If your watch the arms, honey, your watching the wrong part, LOOK LOWER, Why did you think they wanted shacking there ass like that! IT’S A MATING RITUAL! That why we do it! You might try it. You might even like it-or even get lucky!

Thank-you-so-fucking-much! Makes me feel even more unnatural than before.
