Since breaking up with X-BF, I have found myself obsessed with a new crush. Is it just to fill the gap I miss? I know the answer to this question is yes. I was actively pursuing him earlier, adding him as a friend on FB and then calling him. He said he really wanted to talk to me and would call me back, but that was hours ago and I keep obsessing, obsessing, obsessing.. thinking I'm too old or fat for him anyway. Truthfully, we both broke up from a relationship within the past 2 weeks and neither of us need a relationship, but just to be friends. But, my mind is off fantasizing and obsessing all the time.

Maybe you need to calm yourself a bit.... ? Fantasies are permitted as long as you can keep a levelled head.

I'm a mess. I'm totally fixated right now. I know this is very unhealthy but also an AS trait sometimes. I'm not sure what to do about it. Hopefully, if I sleep, it will pass.

Hope you feel better soon. Break-up's are nasty.

Thanks. Yes, it sucks. Add to that how my X is acting really nasty and childish over it, to which I simply tell him he is childish and don't react.

What's bothering me more is the constant obsessing and fantasizing. I know it's to protect me from the pain. I'm glad I will be seeing a therapist on Tuesday to try to open up and process the pain.

I obsess over crushes too but I almost never act on it. Maybe I prefer it over reality. If you do act on it maybe the two of you could establish that you are both on the rebound and not have undue expectations of where it will go. It may be that once you satisfy your curiosity you will feel less obsessed. I'm just saying have the talk so no one gets misled.

He didn't call yesterday and didn't call today. I left him a message on FB that I hoped he didn't get the wrong idea when I called him, but that mainly I wanted friendship. I haven't had a crush like this in SO long. I feel like a schoolgirl. I feel like if I see him with another girl I will cry.

While I don't condone rebound stuff, if you get along well with the new guy, go for it.
