Ever had the feeling that if you love someone there's always a rival? Not like in the movies, but they seem to get the best out of you just by looking like punks, jocks, rappers, or rockstars. That's what girls go for. If you even try to find a girl you like you'll just run into one of "those" guys. Anybody (besides me) have a problem with this?

If this'll sound bad, I apoligize in advance. To avoid the problem of "those" guys stealing my girl, I typically go for girls who "those" guys don't like. In other words, I lower my standards to avoid the risk of losing my girl. Even if a girl isn't as attractive as I'd like her to be, it doesn't bother me; I know who I can and can't attract and keep interested. Sacrificing attractiveness for security seems weird to my NT friends, but they understand the logic behind it.

Perhaps you're right. Pretty girls are like commercials.....try and get one and you are only screwing yourself over.....

Yeah I like girls with glasses who are generally not the hottest girls so woohoo. Now I just need to find one that I can go out with .

Theres always rivals when I like someone, always.

Aspie1- I think that's a smart move, but still you could end up with a rival. I know that my husband could get some tall, thin, blonde but he picked me; short, stout, blonde. He is intensely loyal and doesn't even seem to notice other women, sexually. He's great that way because I am greedy with my meat.

This gave me an idea for another thread, Bye.

I like it when I got rivals because:

a) I know I have a good catch
b) I can laugh at them because its me he comes to again and again and not them

Yeah, that's one of the things that makes me like people more - if they are highly sought after.

Having rivals isn't fun if it's not you they come to though.

Coby from Papa roach feels your pain i might add. Im not sure how as he's nearly 40 odd and made alot of money out of stupid kids, but there you go maybe he's picking up hints from Gary Glitter on the way.

I know that I tend to have unconventional taste in women and it may appear that I'm looking for someone that no one else would be interested in, but there's always someone else who sees what I see. Then there have been situations where I've upset some hopeful by being the lucky guy ...it happens so rarely so why not enjoy?

Not the kind of girls you want. Believe you me a lot a girls - Okay, maybe I mean women - love a guy who doesn't buy into any kind of image crap. Individuality is the one appealing quality that us Aspies have got in spades so use it to your advantage!! When you're the original you have no rivals.

I did have a rival when I liked one girl last year. I didn't really know how to deal with it, and after he kinda started pulling ahead with her... let's just say he was kinda scared of me. After a while, however, that girl ended up playing both of us and we teamed and up pulled an evil, evil prank on her (eggs on the wheel of the car, anyone?) and she screamed at us and told us to burn in hell.


However, as of lately, I'm indirectly competing with him for another girl this time... kinda strange that it's a similiar scenario... just a different year.

It does happen, quite a few young women find my fiance attractive. (and aren't shy about letting him know, that kind of annoys me because I think it is rude) I'm not threatened by them and I know where Ryan's heart is, so it isn't a problem.

There's always a rival for me, because I'm so picky. The girls I like tend to either have boyfriends, or have a lot of friends who are guys, or are lesbians or something. I'm not into really masculine girls, but I'm not into really feminine ones either--it's that balance between traits of masculinity (easier for guys to relate to--passionate/mildly aggressive, blunt, likes games and fantasy/sci-fi/dark action movies rather than cookie cutter romantic comedies, etc.) and feminity (sweet, sensitive, gentle, selfless (I say this is a feminine trait because women put up with so much throughout history, and many just held their tongue about it), etc.)...that balance is something I find attractive, though it's rare.

Generalizations will get you nowhere.

The girl I'm in love with is straight, with a boyfriend and several friends who are closer to her than I am. I get horribly jealous.
