This reminds me of that joke.

What do you get when you play a country song backwards?

You get your truck back, you get your dog back and you get your girl back.

Right on Greb! Boy is that list ever right on. I couldn't agree more. One would have to be suffering from terminal stupidity to get married.I was married once and now I have no truck, no dog and of course no money either. Marriage is a one-way street: men lose and women win.

You could, or you could have a happy, long lasting marriage.

Yeap, and worse than that, it looks like women don't care.

In my opinion (subjective) this is far more important that people think. One of the things that made western world so successful was the ability to value freedom and at the same time to negotiate and give in with fair play. Many other places in the world were only able to be either completely hierarquical and oppresive, or chaotic and chronically conflictive.

This problem looks like a conflict where there's no negotiation and no care about other's problems. I wonder if this is one more symptom of our decadence...

My brother has tried. Now he's gone through his second Divorce and has an awkward ongoing shared custody of one 2 year old boy.

I'm not sure if I'll ever get married. I might consider "co-habitating" with the right person, but tying the knot seems to turn a relationship into a legal fiasco.

Plus, video games, cable TV, and the Internet provide entertainment that didn't used to be available. Is this good for society? Probably not, as falling birth rates and increasing single-motherhood demonstrate. But people respond to incentives. If you want more men to marry, it needs to be a more attractive proposition.

So, what would render marriage more attractive to men?

A non-refundable deposit from the woman? She'd get it back if he dies first from natural causes.

Abolish feminism for a start, Women seemed to have abandoned the positive traits of Womanhood, viewing them as some sort of insult, and taken up the negative aspects of men in there place.
Besides, what man wants to marry another man, even if he does look like a pretty Woman?

Give me a 1950s Doris Day in a Gingham dress.

Most single straight men whom I have known WANTED to get married for the following reasons:

1. You'll GAIN respect.
2. You'll GET MORE sex.
3. You'll GAIN friends.
4. You'll GET BETTER QUALITY space.
5. You OFTEN ACQUIRE kids and money.
6. You GAIN in court because you are seen as more stable.
7. You HAVE MORE freedom because your spouse is usually taking care of the home front.
8. Single life is OFTEN THE PITS.
