Okay, there's this senior at my school. He's really popular, and nice, and funny–He completely states his mind, sometimes it's very awkward, but it cracks me up. And he is beautiful. He has these crazy intense, pale-blue eyes, and a goatee. :D

I'm pretty shocked he started paying any attention to me this year. He wasn't here last year, but he was for my freshman year, and payed no attention to me. In fact, one time, I was talking to him and he just walked off mid-sentence. I sort of didn't like him after that...Well, was bitter he didn't like me, probably.
But this year, we have a class together. It happens to be a wonderful class, with a small group of people. There are only 7 of us.

He didn't really talk to me much, but then he decided to come and sit next to me. And now he sits next to me every day. I want to talk to him, but I never know what to say. We don't talk *too* much, but we often agree on things, and occasionally have a short, playful little conversation...I think it's called flirting. He notices things I do and stuff. The other day, he said he liked my shirt. :D And when we're talking about this video we're shooting for the class, he brings up my scene a lot, and thinks it's cool I'll throw a suitcase, and we always root for that together. And he kept insisting, at first, I should be the scantily dressed girl. XD

When I got back from the states, he was the first person to greet me, with a big smile, and a "hey! You're back!" And he and I seem to have a bit of a staring thing going on. Whenever something is said between us...There's always often lingering gaze afterwards. I'm not sure if it's because he could like me, or because his eyes have a tendency to stop me from looking away. And I catch him looking at me as we pass in the halls.
I really wish I would speak to him more, and be less uncomfortable.
We do occasionally hang out at lunch, because we have similar friends.
The thing is, he's so nice and flirty with everyone. XD I think the eye staring thing is unique to us, though.

Could he like me? :S

I suppose it's possible. Perhaps early on he didn't 'know' you well enough, that other year.

Well, it seems reasonably clear that he doesn't dislike you. How much he likes you is hard to say. Maybe he just likes you because you are a nice person. Maybe he likes you a little more than that. Maybe a lot more. But it sounds like you get along with him rather well so it seems if you just keep being yourself, he'll probably keep liking you.

If you're still strangers, what does he like about you?

What do you like about each other?
If you don't talk, well he sounds hot and sexy, but is that enough?

Unique to you, and he imitates it?(*).

He at least knows you like him.

(*)I don't know.
When someone's body language is odd and imitated,
it always seemed "mean" to imitate it, because mean people did it.
If I were you I'd try to hear what he says about you to other people.
Because...
He might like you for sex because he knows you like him,
and if he is not nice then he might just do that in a not very nice way,
and then go tell everyone not very nice things about you. That would be abuse.
Is he mean to anyone?
If he is nice, he might still be just looking for his first time,
and maybe that's ok with you. Why not have a nice hot sexy first time?

I could be wrong but it seems like he's nice OR mean, and just looking for sex,
and will move on to sow wild oats. The only way to find out whether he likes
you is talk and get to know him, and listen for mean gossip about you.

What makes me suspicious of meanness and abuse is that he seems to be
imitating an autistic trait and the popular people might laugh at him if he
has an autistic girlfriend, and he might redirect that onto you instead of
standing up for you.

I did have one popular (and close) friend in school who was
strong enough to stand up for me within his groups though.
I am basing my OPINIONS on how people reacted to me in the 1980s in school.

Well, wearen't exactly "strangers" I think we're considered friends.

I don't really know what he could like about me. I make him laugh pretty often. And he makes me laugh. He could find my strangeness intriguing. He likes to comment and joke around with me playfully. I know he is a really good cellist. And hes quite upbeat. I'd love to get to know him more, before I decide if I really like him.

No, he doesn't imitate me, it's mutual. I catch him staring at me occasionally. Maybe even a bit more than I do him, actually.
Oh, that didn't even occur to me. :P What if he thinks I like him, and he is just curious....XD Well, at least he isn't being mean.

Imitating body language can also mean people like you, though. He's not doing it in a mean way.
I don't know if he talks about me behind my back, I kind of doubt he does. But I also highly doubt he has any sinister motives. Our school is a pretty modest christian school, and hes one of the nicest guys at school. And he IS the popular kid. Not the mean kind. We don't have any mean groups at our school. Also, I'm not blaringly autistic, or anything. I actually don't even know for sure if I'm an aspie (not official). People usually think I'm weird in an indearing way. Anyways, he's pretty strange himself. :P With the blurting and stuff.

How popular is this guy with other girls ? If they are throwing themselves at him and he still looks at you, then I reckon you could be onto a winner. Watch how he behaves/looks at other girls, are you sure that it's JUST you he looks at in that way ?
At the end of the day you could just ask him to go to a movie together, just to give your own critique  , then use your own body language/proximity/personal space to see if things are moving in the right direction. BUT you have to get the balance right. You don't want to throw yourself at him but by the same token most men are not very good at reading "subtle" body language so you really need to think about how you hope to get your message across

Good luck.

How are we supposed to know? I myself have no understanding nor desire to understand romance but I just can't see how we could figure it out any better than you could.

He certainly gives the impression of liking you. How far he's willing to go is harder to guess, but congratulations on the connection, anyway. :)

Hmm, well, that's what I'm unsure about. He IS a flirt with many girls. I'll have to really pay closer attention. He's giving me more attention than guys usually do. XD
Ask him out? My, I'd be really nervous! Eek! I dunno....I don't know if I'm cool enough....

Avarice: If you really didn't want to respond, why did you? I'm not expecting anyone to know the answer, I'm just looking for some pointers and things, people to suggest stuff I never thought of, etc...Some people do like discussing these matters, y'know.

I know what you mean, but spare a thought for us guys. When you go through life being blown out more times than a secondhand candle after a while it really hurts, then you either just become numbed to it or give up on relationships.

Sounds like he's interested, does he flirt more with you than he does with the other girls?

Here's a thought, Next time he's looking at YOU as you pass in the halls, just give him a faint smile and a wink. If he doesn't respond to that you might need to re-think HIS intentions or bite the bullet, corner him and just bloody well ask !

Well, I'm not sure! Argh. I don't think he does much. But he looks at me more. I don't really want a relationship even, since he's a senior, and he'll just be gone in a few months...But if he did like me, that would be really nice! And a first! Even if he just thought I was pretty.

Chippie, you're right. It's terribly hard for both parties isn't it, especially with experience of failure. :/

Smile....Got it....But my smiles always come out terribly awkward. I should practise in front of the mirror...

Thank you guys. :) Thanks for taking time to help me with this.

It sure sounds like he likes you.

And why not. You're beautiful and it sounds like you have laughs together.

Maybe he's flirty with others too but sometimes insecure guys do that. It doesn't mean he doesn't like you - either solely or along with other girls.

I wonder what would happen if you asked him out? What do the guys here think about that?

ETA: Oh I see someone's suggested that. Well, make it something like a Saturday afternoon movie. A goofy one you can both make fun of, maybe. Humor seems to be something he's comfortable with.

A daylight date is less of a 'date date' and then maybe he'd ask you on a 'real' one. He may be longing to ask you out but is scared to. So, break the ice maybe?

Wow...that could work...Hmm...Or maybe if I started out by inviting him to a get together with other people?

If your pics. are anything to go by, then I would take issue with anybody who didn't fancy you.

Damn ! if only I were 30 years younger. ( about myself)
