He is basically asking if he can hit you when "HE" thinks you are doing something wrong.

I'd break up with him before things get worse.

It's nothing to do with sex.

I have trouble taking responsibility with things and taking big risks.

Sounds like BSDM to me. If the OP is okay with it, I don't see the harm. My husband spanks me sometimes or threatens to.

But the OP mentioned she showed the thread to him and he decided against it after seeing how she felt about it. A bad partner would force it on her and not care if she was against the idea.
