Who do you get along with? Who are your friends? That's your type.

I don't think "who are your friends" necessarily shows what your type is. I would have alsorts of people as my friends, but definitely wouldn't want most people as my girlfriend

OP - why do you want to know what your type is so badly? If you like someone - THEY are your type :P

Also not everyone has a clearly defined "type"

While some people do have a distinct taste in men/women (blondes/tall/big boobs/short/dark etc etc), other people find themselves attracted to a variety of different people. You may be one of those people if you're struggling to find out what your type is

the type of people you're attracted to. think about all the people you've had a crush on/relationship with and see what their common points are.
for example - all my exes and current boyfriend are; skinny, tall, confident.

But why do you need the guidelines? I mean you know if you like someone, right? Coz you like them. If you like someone, THEY are your type

One of the purposes of dating is to figure this out. Even a date that goes badly with a girl gives you information. Who you are visually attracted to is part of it. But there's also what sort of personality is compatible with your personality and there's no way to find out except by going on dates...or at least spending time interacting with girls (even if not on a date) and seeing whose personality is most appealing to you. Shy? Bossy? Introverted? Extroverted? Athletic? Bookish? There's just no way to know unless you spend some time with girls.

If that's just too open-ended, try some online quizzes. If you google "love personality compatibility" you will find many, many online quizzes that will ask you questions about yourself and then algorithmically try to figure out what sort of girl you would be most compatible with.

You might not have a type. I've dated a few people, and realized I don't. When you start dating, you don't want to start dating looking for ONE type of person and miss out on the right one because you were hung up on a "type".
