Very interesting article (you don't have to be an OKC member to view).

Bottom line: If you're conventionally attractive you'll get a higher rating, if there's some controversy about how attractive your are, you'll attract more men.

In other words, it's generally better to be a (statistical) "5" than a "10", interesting...

My interpretation of this information is that men are interested in women in the following order:

'hot' women > unconventionally attractive women > conventionally attractive women

It doesn't say being a '5' is better than being a '10'. It says that being a '10' is best in terms of receiving male interest. But if you aren't a '10', you're a '6' for example, you would receive more interest if there is a divide in opinion on your attractiveness than if you were a universally agreed upon as being a '6'.

Here's their advice for the ladies:

Its an unfair generalization, but when a woman has a 10 rating (or the equivalent in whatever setting), I worry that she knows she's "all that" is going to e a diva about it. But I don't know how many other men think that way, or even if they'd consider that more of a turn-on or a turn-off. I prefer more "down to Earth" types of women, and I don't think that most of the women all men agree are hot would be as down to Earth. Also, Perhaps many of the women all men rate as 10 are going out of their way to look like what the media pushes as attractive, using make up, highlights, high heels, etc... and that usually turns me off.
