Well, since it's been half a year and I'm not going to get any dates any time soon, I've decided to go through my earlier plan of disclosing my AS on my OKCupid profile. I now just want to what the reactions are going to be but I'm not holding any hopes up that I'm going to get any dates. It's in the "most private thing I'm willing to admit" section:

profile

What do you guys think?

I wouldn't refer to yourself as a "the most successful disabled student" myself. It sounds like an award at the special olympics no offence

I agree with @Laz: I'd leave the "most private thing" statement at: "I've been diagnosed with Asperger's Syndrome (a mild form of autism)." I think the statement about being a successful disabled student undercuts your achievements: you've got a master's degree and are pursuing your doctorate - those are the achievements of a successful student, period.

Or, you might want to add that you are potentially the love-child of Garrison Keillor. (He hosts a popular radio show on National Public Radio here in the States: "A Prairie Home Companion" - and you do resemble him.)

It's a wonderful profile, with the exception mentioned by others here; please don't refer to yourself as disabled! You are obviously very intelligent and motivated. Good luck!

I thought I said "one of the most successful". Technically it's the truth, the has actually showcased me before in their alumni magazine. Unfortunately, I can't change it now because I'm at work.

Thanks. Although, I don't know how many people over here would know who Garrison Keillor is.

I didn't say I was not intelligent. Thanks anyway.

This is what I put just for a comparison/comment/criticism

Quote:
I am quite comfortable and open to say I am a person with a diagnosis of Aspergers Syndrome.

I do not feel having such a label is something I should hide away or feel ashamed about through fear of people forming misconceptions or jumping to conclusions of my character. I confront prejudice and challenge preconceptions and stereotypes.

So don't shy away, ask questions satisfy your curiosity

mine says "i have aspergers. it sucks and i get very lonely"

I didn't disclose for the first 6 months but i didnt get any messages. So i thought i'd try and get people to feel sorry for me but that hasn't worked either. I think its obvious that the women of the world can easily survive without me to be honest.

My experience of AS has been entirely negative and completely ruined my life. I could of put that, so i am sugarcoating it somewhat. I don't see the point in severe lying as that will mean i have to pretend to be someone else.
