So I've started OK Cupid again. Tried twice or three times before, got fed up and deleted my account. Now I've got a new one, and this time I'm frank about my Aspie status.

Thus far, I've written 21 girls, and I've had 40 visitors. Thus far I've only had one reply, from a divorcee who only talks about her husband. We haven't even met or had a conversation, and I'm already friendzoned, a shoulder to cry on.

Gonna keep trying. Man, why is the process of finding a relationship and someone who I can love such a f*****g miserable exercise in flagellation, punishment and emotional devastation?

I'm "out" on OKC, too.

Thinking of deleting mine in a week or so...it's depressing.

OKCupid sounds like a cop out. Can't you try a different site if it doesn't work? If Bethie hasn't had much luck there it sounds like a write off. She would be swamped with messages on NZDating.

There is a comprehensive 'manual' about OKCupid on the net. There are one or more topics about it here.
This is the URL: http://okcupid-guide.livejournal.com/

I've tried OKCupid, but not too much success. Sent about 19 messages, got 2 return messages. Both not really positive. In a few weeks I plan to start refreshing my profile and try again. But I am also going to try another dating site.

Go for Eharmony man. Its expensive so it may be something you might want to try for a month. At least create a profile, which is free, and I think they allow you 9 free leads of people who match your profile(of course paying the 24 dollars opens that up to an endless amount). Their questionnaire is many many pages long and accurately pinpoint your values and who you are as a person, and matches you up with other people who are just like that. If you are fully honest with the questionnaire, you should get some results.

I've tried eHarmony and the whole "see your matches for free" tagline is complete BS. Yeah, you can "see" your matches, but it's no good until you pay the fee and activate the photos.

Also, the "free contact weekends" are also a bit of a rip off, since the only free contact they allow is through pre-written questions.

I might give a eHarmony subscription a try eventually, but not until the Canadian site allows PayPal.

I could be going on a date next weekend with someone I've met on OKCupid, but it's still being organized. Since the 31st of March, we've even been emailing each other instead of messaging each other through OKCupid. It seems like I've been more successful than some other people here, since I revealed my AS on my OKCupid profile.

I think OKCupid is so popular for three reasons:

*lots of users
*well-done interface
*FREE < < < < Did I mention "free"?

For someone who's looking for more than kicks, the questions and answers are very helpful as far as determining compatibility.

Okcupid is a good site, but I estimate about 50% of girls (at least!) are just there for the quizzes and the giggles.

Besides, it has the bad aspect of any other online dating, like some other user said in another thread "the online vs the in person are two different experiences", so true....

I joined OKCupid just to try some quizzes. I don't care about dating, and I've always been a dating website Nazi because they are full of really, really strange people. Basically, in my profile description, I put very clearly that "I am not here for dating". For several days, though, I continued to be assaulted with messages from guys such as "I am horny tonight" and "you look very sexy". I left because I just wanted to check it out and got an idea of what it was after about a week of being on there.

I've had a profile there for about 4 months -- I'm married and poly, but not looking for random sex. I'm not "out" with regard to my AS, and although I've had to weed through the "hey baby wanna hook up tonight" stuff, I have met some genuinely nice people on there who are quirky like me and have turned out to be good friends and I think one or two will turn out to be more :) I encourage people to be persistent and be themselves, and the women to just ignore the "hey I'm so horny" guys who try to hit you up for random sex  The matching algorithm is pretty good--the folks who are over 90% matches for me tend to have a lot to talk about that I'm interested in, but I wouldn't really want to bother meeting someone less than 80% (given my AS I don't "listen" well when people blather about things that don't interest me and I don't want to put myself in for more social failure). I don't think the site is so bad, but you do have to be persistent and ignore a lot of people who don't match you well.

Just my 2 cents...
~Kate

Yeah girls dont really take online dating seriously, at least at my age.

They just sign up to see what guys hit on them and what not for entertainment.

But having an account can't hurt, ive gotten a couple dates from it.
