I found that if you're not quick and straight to the point, you will fade away.

Women get a lot of messages (about 50-200 per month depending on the woman). If a woman does not ignore you and responds to your letter, if you do not build a connection or schedule a date, she will forget about you. If it takes 5+ days and you still haven't landed the plane, she would probably have been messaged by a dozen more guys, and her interest in you will diminish. People don't go to online dating sites for meaningless chat; they're looking for a relationship, so why be too slow?

Agree? Disagree?

Timing timing. In comedy as well. Everything happens in cycles. The planets are always in motion. The situation now will not be the situation in an hour. No exact moment configuration ever comes again. Strike while the iron is hot. At the correct time. Lukewarm isn't good enough. You need intuition to do this correctly.

For f***s's sake, why does life have to be so complex and superficial?

Edit: Just ranting, sorry for the language.

It's been a horrid day of NT exploration and I'm not liking what I'm seeing.

Not one bit.

Yeah its all about timing really, the same girl who may have rejected you might have agreed to a date if you had asked a week earlier or a week later.

That's true, or just general loss of interest. It's an unnatural environment, and some of the people who turn you down may not if they got to know you through offline means. It's a lot harder to get a date online, from my opinion if your'e a guy.

Yes, I feel like you do.

An average woman can get well over 50+ messages per month.
An alphamale can get that many too, but an average man will get far from that, if any at all.

And a lot of younger (18-24) women don't take it seriously. They just create and account for giggles, then write a laconic summary of themselves, and some of them never come back to the site again.

I think I've gotten ten messages on OKC in the months I've been there. :?

If someone's not a pervert or illiterate, and capable of having intellectual conversation, there's no way I'd forget about him, because he's out of the gates someone more tolerable than 99.9% of that site.

It would take me several months of increasingly-frank conversations to feel like it was worth meeting someone.

Of those hundreds of messages probably 80%-90% are one sentence openers "Hi, how are you?" "Hi, sexy/cutie/beautiful/hottie", many of messages are from old men who ignore the age wishes of the woman, so writing a proper message of yourself, what in her profile interested you, what do you think you have common based on that profile, then maybe asking something can help you to stand out.

These are the ones that don't get replies:

1. "Hi"
2. Anything mis-spelt
3. Some random word that's supposed to be flattering like "hot" "cute" whatever, or a sentence to go with it.
4. Walls of text
5. Someone whinging on and on about how they can't get anyone

You'd have more luck just straight up saying "I would like to take you to dinner." Straight forward.
NO tennis of text.
No talking about stuff you like (most people on dating sites don't care)

Just get to the point and ask them on a date straight away. Why waste time? You can get to know them after they say yes. If they say no, you didn't waste time getting to know them.

6. Anything analogous to an "avid hunter and fisher" messaging an ethical vegan-

people who cannot or refuse to read are blocked.

Also people wanting "norty" fun when it says "friendships" in your profile

And it doesn't help most of the guys on NZ dating have an IQ of 3.

I'm pretty much the same way... the problem is that women either don't respond at all, or respond only once. I can't get the actual conversation going like that.
