The whole love/sex/dating scene has changed in recent decades. In some ways, it has benefited the average guy, while in other ways, it has harmed them.
In the 50s and early and mid 60s, the bad boy type guys were mostly lower class, plus a few upper class cads. The middle classes were back then filled with docile, conformist types. Now of course there is more freedom, with things that were considering daring and rebellious in the old days becoming commonplace- Now you have stockbrokers dressing like Mad Max in their spare time, and tearing around on Harleys, the whole shopping mall goth scene, and bodybuilders (who were a small despised and ridiculed fringe group in my youth in the early 70s)_now being admired etc.
What turns out to be good news for many, is that women have often been conditioned by a steady diet of chick flicks to admire nerdy types if they have soem redeeming features such as being funny or creative or confident.
