When I find that things are getting a little disorganised, I tend to freak out. Let me explain.

The thing that's freaking me out is:
1) my new job is about 50 miles from my family home
2) job is also about 50 miles in the opposite direction to my girlfriend. I met my GF whilst I was studying.

I also have a place lined up to live literally next door to work.

I'm freaking because things are a little too far from ideal (ideal = work+girlfriend closeby).

How weird is it to drive 50 miles each way to see my GF every weekend, or to bring her over to stay with me.

I have a friend that has 120 miles between him and his boyfriend. 50 miles is bad, but not that bad. Find a nice 25 mile meeting place and go there until you feel comfortable with her moving in with you.

I think that meeting halfway might be even more difficult to work. She lives with her parents and works close-by. She also doesn't drive.

Being a bit of a compulsive planner, I'm trying to work out how the next few years would work.

Would I need to find a place to live near her and then commute the 50 miles to work - which would mean that we would only really see each other at weekends anyway (the commute would eat up a lot of my weekdays).

Think of the planet, gas cost, your mental health....live close to work and commute to see your girlfriend.
alot of people only see sig other on the weekends. If possible? she could take public transport to visit you?I use to take a bus three hours each way to spend the weekends with someone. It was worth it.You could use the money you save on extra gas commuting to work to pay for bus/train tickets. All these changes....poor guy...I hate change, you must be very stressed.Hope things work out.
