Hi guys. I am neurotypical, but came to this forum to try to get help when I had problems with my boyfriend who was diagnosed with Asperger's when he was 13/14. I'm probably going to sound like a real ignorant idiot sometimes, so bear with me! Anyone else on here in a relationship with someone who is neurotypical, or vice versa? Are you happy? Do you have a lot of communication issues or other problems? If so, what are they?

Hi Weepy. I am an NT woman married to an Aspie man. We are happy and we have been together for 16 years. I've also heard of other NT/AS couples that make it work... and some that dont. To have a sucessful relationship depends on many things, and everybody (including Aspies) is different. But if you are both commited to make it work, you sure will. To make it work you have to read a lot to understand your partner's peculiarities, to have a lot of patience, and to really want to comunicate, because love and communication are the bases for every healthy relationship. I wish you and your partner all the happiness.
