Is anyone else in this situation? My husband works in IT so is geeky and sometimes I tell him social things he misses! Whenever I read something about marriage it tend to be the opposite way round or both Aspie.

Also I read a lot about people who can't find a partner because of AS. Does anyone have a partner but their relationship is affected by AS? I'm someone who appears NT but my AS traits do have a big impact on employment and closer relationships.

woman with asperger's here. married to a guy who happens to be NT. i married at 52 and this is my first marriage. i'd say asperger's played a role in me not marrying earlier. i'm 55 and have learned fairly well to act NT. at 40, it was a different story. lost a career due to overhonesty then. have a new perspective and a new (easier) career. no current relationship difficulties except perhaps too few relationships.

I was married, briefly, and I'm still bewildered by the whole thing. Despite being healthy and mostly attractive and in my mid-40s, I'm pretty sure that I'm so introverted and "systemizing" that it will be near impossible for me to partner again. When someone asks me about it I smile and say, "I'm kind of a tough fit!"

We waited 10 years before getting married and think I'm still bewildered about getting married recently! I only waited so long as was waiting to "fix" some things like career and relationships first to feel more happy/settled in myself. It's not happened as it is to do with AS. I'm very introverted too.

My AS sure does effect my relationship with my husband but he doesn't let it bother him. It just takes the right guy to tolerate it and put up with not having a normal relationship. Sensory issues also do it too. He is ten years older than I am and I am his first and only girl he's ever had. He got lucky as did I. I don't know if I will ever find a guy like him again if he died.

I am also introverted.

I have AS. My partner is NT and pretty social. He deals well with it. I do have meltdowns and get fixated on things, etc but he seems to deal well with it all.
