Most geek girls are so immature and maladjusted, theres not a chance in hell the relationship would be meaningful. Even another geek guy might feel like he's baby sitting her.

Why would you think that? What do you think geek guys are? Serious question.

Perhaps it's related to the guys getting their views about relationships & women from anime shows. I haven't watched much anime but a lot of women I've seen in those are really messed-up; they are bossy & b!tchy to their men, are extremely stupid & dependent, or they have a knack for suddenly getting very ticked-off & start yelling at or physically abusing the guys. Maybe the anime fans are not very interested in women due to having a warped view about em

That's Tsundere and Yandere. Tsundere's are all bitchy but grow to love the guy, though they'll never show it. Yandre's are like the cute version of Charles Manson.

The key is being able to differentiate between anime and real life. Try and find a girl who likes anime so you can enjoy it together.

Because trust me, girls can be even more perverse and kinky than the sickest hentai.

It's not. But I'm always hearing about anime lovers who can't get a girlfriend.

I dislike anime, but funny thing is I love video games, and would easily dress up for a video game con :P
ah, I find decent and ugly looking anime fans...all the time. XD

The correlation is that there is no correlation. You think people who love anime has no GF/BF?? wrong. From personal experience. Besides the whole goddam world loves anime. And geeks can get girls. Heck if they can get some in "The Beauty and the Geek", why can't other geeks in real life get some too?

Yea, I would have to disagree, I've seen plenty of healthy meaningful relationships between "geeks". Of course it's a matter of perception and the individuals, but to see someone on a public level rather than a personal level can really be misleading of what he or she is about.

I'm dateless, but don't like anime. I have other geeky interests.

Men who can't get women typically find some hobby to fill the gap in their life. Guys are rejected due to their looks and/or lack of status, so they find something else and people mistakenly assume that hobby is the reason they can't get women.

this does not make sense. boys can be into anime at age 12.

Anime does not make you dateless.

Being dateless gives you time to watch anime.

I'd rather someone I end up with not think I'm immature and maladjusted just because my interests are classified as 'geeky'.

I said MOST, not YOU. And I unapologetically do mean most.

READ ---> It's someone's personality that makes them immature and maladjusted, not their interests, but I'm going to be blunt- most of the hardcore fan girls are just too childish to deal with. They also often behave inappropriately. If you go around with kitty ears laughing at the top of your voice, arguing heatedly about which final fantasy character is better than another, by all means, cross me off! I'm not amused by it. Maybe it's just me, but that kinda behavior is best left to early grade school. To boot, a lot are extremely self absorbed, to the point of being rude. They're also usually cliquey and standoffish, and don't let you in their life unless you're as developmentally arrested as they are.

And it's not really an elitist thing- it's that I can't have a serious conversation with people like that. I've tried, and in a lot of cases, it's literally all they like to do and talk about. I just can't take someone seriously who's that out of touch with life. I've tutored junior high students who are more grounded than that. And I'm not so naive that I think it wouldn't somehow impact the relationship. I'm almost thirty, and I have no desire to be friends with people who act like third graders.

I have to take something back, though. It's not just geek girls, it's hard core geeks in general that behave like that. I was in an Otaku club at my college, and it was the girls who were the really obnoxious ones, but now that I think about it I have seen a fair share of geek guys who act like that too. Just in that particular situation the guys were a little easier to talk to, and more still and quiet.

Well, I was joking (sorry... forgot the  ) but your response intrigues me.

Depends on the geek. If they look normal, have normal social skills, and have a normal social life, yeah, why not. If they act like big kids, spend 14 hours a day on the PC, and wear Voltron shirts, most women wouldn't go near them. Which leads me to this next point I'd like to make!

There was one HUGE exception I saw, and I swear to god this is true. There was this pod of computers at college some years back, and a group of gamers sat there all day, every day, all semester, playing some MMO. Among them, there was a guy/girl couple. The dude looked like a real life, mentally stunted version of 2-D from Gorillaz. It seemed like he had almost no personality, and when he talked, he sounded... well I could impersonate him, but not describe him. He sounded half dead, there you go. His girlfriend, in my opinion, was just so cute I couldn't believe it. I'm not the only one who thought so. She was half way between average and plus size, very healthy looking, long gold brown hair in pony tail, and had these huge blue-green eyes. She was a gamer herself, always laughing and joking (but not "holler" laughing) and was really sweet and personable. She wasn't stereotypically beautiful, but she was still very attractive, and like I said, a decent person. That's normally not the kind of thing I see though. I don't know what she saw in him, but he was lucky to have her, IMO.

Well, there ya go. To each their own.

Maybe I'm just an old crotchety bastard with a bad rotator cuff.
