does having 4 children disclude fr dating pool
it narrows chances a little I'd think

As a single father myself, I definitely think it narrows your options, plus it complicates the relationship with the person that you are dating in that the thoughts/feelings of the children add a new dynamic to the whole thing.

My ex-wife did/does really well though, but it seems like she had the best luck with other single parents...

It doesn't narrow the chances. You'll always have chances. But it narrows te options, meaning you'll have to change your standards. May e your absolute physical/ intellectual ideal isn't going to be interested in dating somebody with 4 kids, but the average looking guy who's into things you don't really care about might be willing to give it a shot. An who knows, if you give HIM a shot, he might just become
your new ideal. It happens.

Maybe I should have mentioned my children are with me all the time. ALL the time. Not that I couldn't take them to a friends house in the event I actually had a date.

I'm guessing, Grisha, your ex "does well" b/c you are involved in the lives of your children and take them for a time. My ex is across the country and I have full time care of them. I'm totally cool with someone having children of their own, I love children and have spent my whole life caring for or teaching them in one way or another. If that helps my chances in being open to that, great.

Just seems like I have a lot of "odds" to overcome and wanted input on things to adjust my expectations in preparing to "get back out there". I am ready, it is time, but I don't know how much of a chance I have, I want to be realistic. My standards are not based on outward appearances or in any way influenced by money or power. My high standards won't be lowered b/c they are based on honesty and integrity of a man, his inner life and self, his willingness to share that in full. I can attract men based on superficial qualities, I have a more difficult time telling if or how much I'm being lied to as part of a man trying to make a good impression.

Thanks for the input!
