Honestly, I'm sick of seeing all the hand-holding, kissing, and other forms of affection around my university. It just makes me feel worse about myself, about what needs of mine are not being met. I just wish all the couples would go away.

I even yelled at a couple from across the street today. I said that I don't want to see their hand-holding and that the guy should be thankful to have a girlfriend. I wish PDAs were considered indecent acts and were against the law. Until the disadvantaged are treated humanely, those that have should get out of our faces.

Sorry, I don't know what PDA stands for. Please explain!

I know that I've had girlfriends in the past who wanted me to hold hands or kiss in public and I've always tried to avoid this. I like being in someone's company but that's because I respect them as an individual, not because I want to be glued to them every minute of the day. I think it is rude to be overly affectionate in public because it upsets those who are single, and particularly anyone who has just broken up with a long term boyfriend or girlfriend.

"Spare a thought for the broken hearted".

Needless to say, my actions constituted "rejection" and caused many arguments.

*SIGH*

Public Display of Affection. It appears to be a local dialect.

Good for you. I admire that! And I agree, it just upsets us singles.

They shouldn't be outlawed, but I think if I see another couple in a passionate kiss in the middle of nowhere for no good reason, I'm going to punch them. I think that would be a better solution.

I stand on the opposite end of this issue. I believe that spontaneous public sex should be legalized and encouraged.

Judging by that and your avatar, why do I think you're Canadian? :P

Hell if I know, but you'd be right. Québécois, ici.

This post reminds me of my fear of Country & Western music and to a lesser extent love song or anything to do with love. On my way to work, I just listen to Classical Music.

No, I'm actually Pope Benedict XVI.

I think most PDAs are meant for showing off, at least in high school and the first year or two of university. Some young couples don't flaunt their relationship in others' faces - they just walk together, and are seen together casually in public - what happens in private is their business. But others feel the need to put it in your face. I don't need to see all the public hand holding. They just do this to make themselves feel superior to everyone else, especially singles that have to watch it.

I know if and when I ever have a relationship, I'll have some respect for the singles out there. I'll keep most of the affection private.

PDA doesn't really make me "feel bad about myself". To me it's more like "ewww get a room!" I see people at my school, including a couple I know, and they get sickeningly affectionate in the halls. It's just nasty imo (in my opinion) lol.
