Some thoughts on the psychology of dating versus marriage. The higher earners are significantly more likely to get more dates[1]. This is, perhaps, due to lack of comprehension of the situation by the women. The popular man has less motive to commit to one person. Think of the wealthy man going to the nightclubs to show off and have his way with those he meets.

Further. If a twenty-five year old man claims to be making $60k per year, it is possible he is lying[2].

It is easy for a woman to fall in love with the idea of a man with high income. However, as stated before, marriage is highly unlikely. How much money is enough. The working class usually make between $16k and $30k as a couple[3]. Note that a combined income of $35k is sufficient to live in a metropolitan area, and $20k is sufficient to live in a rural area[4]. Additional income can be saved for retirement.

Of course, many people exaggerate what they earn and they also exaggerate their job titles online and in real life, they are usually dishonest or insecure about what they really earn. Money can be stolen or inherited so it isn't an indicator of character or willpower, however if someone has earned money or financial security through their own innovation or creativity, I find it impressive but what's more impressive is when someone does something for the passion or love of it instead of the money.

anyways, is there an equicalent graph that shows how many pms women receive by icome?

Lying about an average salary in the IT world? Why?

I make a bit more than that, but i do not tell anyone what i make - that would just attract golddiggers. If a woman is going to be with me, it is going to be because that she loves me, not because she wants another wallet. It is also one of the reasons why i do not date single women with kids, they are more into dating to secure a financial income and a father figure, rather than the whole concept of love.

Well, they recieve income once a month, so... but it also depends on how often you are prepared to come ;)

I REALLY wish people would stop asserting this as though it were an absolute fact. It's very insulting.

I REALLY wish single women with kids would stop whining about how unfair it is, as if they were the only ones that has had any adversity in life. It is downright unempatic, selfish and ignorant.

I sometimes go to the advanced search settings and specifically look for people who have the lowest listed income on the list.

Well mv whatever you say, the graph validates the stereotype that women wish richer men. The graph certainly doesn't reflect what women get at the end because I recall hyperlexian once linked me a study (can't recall of wish country, but certainly western) showing me that there are more wives earning higher than their men (but that reflect what they get not what they wish for...) and to wages by gender stats of Canada vs Lebanon. She used them as anti-argument of the this stereotype I mentioned in some old thread (and to an article saying girls in my country go for expats).

Her conclusion was something like:
1-"You live in Lebanon (a total different world as she put it), your women earn less than men in your country, that's why your women want richer men."
2-"So that's why you believe in that stereotype. In Canada and the west most of us are not like this because women earn as much as men."

I was kinda convinced.

But after seeing this ockupid graph (which is a huge website with a loads of data, so we should give their stats some credits too), I quickly remembered hyperlexian's conclusion. I don't think an English dating website reflects much what the middle-east or the whole east women want, it actually reflects more what many of your women [US, UK ,Canada and Oz] want (even if they don't get what they wanted simply because they earn high already).

Just sayin'

Awaiting another anti-argument from hyper :P

There is one universal truth to women with children. You will NEVER be number one to them. It's either her way or the highway - And they wonder why they are single? If they used their brain instead of getting pregged up at 15 and made a decision in life when their brain wasn't developed yet, dating sites would be empty. All i hear on dating sites is single mothers crying about that they cannot find someone - NO s**t!

Take your troll theory and stick it.

So, in a nutshell, and conveniently back on topic, if you want more dates you might as well exaggerate your salary. I mean, seriously, at what point in the relationship is your new partner gonna ask to see a payslip or bank statement? And if you worry that at that exact point you are going to get dumped for 'lying about your salary on OKC to get in their pants' - well they've just lied about not being materialistic.
