I've reached the conclusion that I'm absolutely finished conquering my fear of rejection, It's just an annoyingly common occurrence, due in part to the fact that it can now be conveyed with a single click. If anyone's willing to riff on this drollest of topics, please do, I'd really appreciate a 2nd opinion.

The key is to stop being afraid of rejection and just accept that some people are shallow idiots that reject anyone that is different. Pay attention for people that don't reject you... you will find those people if you're looking. I used to be a shoe gazer too.. 8 years in Toastmasters has me looking people in the eye even though it still doesn't feel natural.

I suppose I've been trying to avoid looking at the crux of this issue as my faith in humanity, but it is something meriting consideration. Faith in humanity can get you mugged after all...

getting mugged isn't so awful. i'd rather have faith and stay positive (and get mugged) then lose faith and live a bitter (if unmolested) life.

Agreed, it didn't stymie that uncharacteristically optimistic trait of my own persona, but I suppose what I'm getting at is my wish to achieve the same result with lesser negative experiences, without distilling my social interactions farther than I already have.

Navigating feedback loops can be so... tiring. :?

Ironic then that the last thing that turned my highest-priority orange dot grey was a typography joke.

I spent a while coasting through AP/IB English classes, but now just about all the writing I do is in XML and Java, its' definitely changed my semantic habits, and probably not for the better dating-wise. I chalk it up to a learned habit of compressing information.

keep looking, there are quirky females who will latch onto your writing style. if you have an online dating profile maybe try to make sure your persona comes across accurately so that you appear.... exactly like you are right now.

Things are looking up, seems midterms coinciding with religious holidays conspired to make things slower than usual around here. Always good to know there are plenty of factors to level other people's social lives with my own. I'm kinda thankful for how isolated I am as a telecommuter from all this hoopla. 8O

I'm gonna go burn some rubber. :P
