I've been messaging more people on OKC just now. I'm desperate for somebody, and I'm sickened by facing another weekend alone, full of activities with which I have no one to share them with. I must find someone SOON, but the more and more I see everyone's profiles at OKC, I'm amazed at just how choosy everyone is.

"I like facial hair, I prefer tall men, I want a Christian, I want someone..." want, want, want, it's like these goddamn people are shopping for a car, not a human being.

Here's what I want: someone who will go out with me to the museum. Is that so hard? Is that so wrong? Yet why can't I get anywhere?

I think it's best to sooner realize that people are just that shallow in general so that you'd rather be by yourself anyway. That and I think there'd be more a chance at finding "true love" in a much more natural way than dating sites are designed for.

I think many people put a lot of that stuff in their profiles just to give a general idea of what type of person they're looking for. (Sometimes describing what you're looking for in a partner says almost as much about you as describing yourself). It doesn't necessarily mean that if someone comes along who doesn't meet every single criterion they've thrown out there, that they will always consider it to be a deal-breaker.

But, if someone really does expect to find a 'perfect match,' then they might have unrealistic standards and you're probably better off without them anyhow.
