For the past couple of months, I have been trying to find women with some of the common interests as me. I am a bit of a nerd for anime, martial arts, history, and music. I know have tried going to book stores and coffee houses and even online dating. I never had luck with finding that interest. I would just like to find a girl, I could just talk too.

I remember there being lots of girls at the Karate school I went to. A few of the instructors were women, too. Maybe find a different gym if you aren't meeting any. Also I definitely recommend OkCupid, too. There are plenty of nerds on there for both anime/sci-fi/video game kind of nerdy, as well as intellectuals. If you haven't tried it, you should; it's easily the best free dating site.

Thanks for the information. I have tried Okcupid for two years. I have numerous times revaped my profile, but I kept dating women that were on it for attention or because I was nice. Both times, none of them were intellectual or nerdy. I discovered is a turn off for me. I was honestly looking for nerdy girls. lol Was there something I was doing wrong? I am up for any advice.

As funny as it sounds, if your interest is martial arts... don't try to pick up girls that are into martial arts, at least not with the intention of looking for a nerdy/geeky type. Self-Defence classes aside, in my personal experience, women that are into martial arts are usually a little... more hardcore, you know what I am saying? Martial arts is more of a men's activity (and combat sports even more so), and women who are really into these type of things tend to feel the need to compete on the guys' level. Now, the only martial arts with a higher geek factor are, in my oppionion, the impractical ones (Kendo, Kenjutsu, Kyudo, most forms of TaiChi* and Kung Fu*), so you might want to go for those.

*Not a generalization of these styles (Kung Fu isn't a style to begin with), but TaiChi ist mostly practiced as a form of meditative physical education rather than real combative application.

I will have to disagree with you about the impractical martial arts. Every martial art has something to teach, it is impossible to declare one better than the other. Sorry I mean no offense by the statement, its something I had to learn the hard way.
Surprising, a lot of women do take up the martial arts. It depends on the style that you are practicing. I doubt many would take up Akido or Judo. I know alot that have taken Karate and Tang Soo Do classes. I met an ex-girlfriend though a karate club. Again, I mean no offense.
