Almost 2 weeks ago I went on a date, my first since april. I had a great time, and a few days later I sent her a nice email saying as much and inviting her to a classic movie screening this week.

No reply.

And you know what? I don't care.

Not long ago a rejection would send me into a spiral of despair and self hate.

Now I feel, "so what?" There's plenty of women out there and only one of me. I won't settle. I'm happy being alone and I've reconciled I'll probably never find love.

So each date that yields nothing is now simply a resumption of the status quo. I'll keep on working at my art, and securing my lasting memory by giving back to the world my craft. So what if all my friends are marrying. That's all they'll have.

I'm going to do so much good, if the price is I remain alone, so be it. If women can't see me for what I can offer, I can't help that.

I might try to go on another date, maybe in six more months. I've deleted all my dating accounts some time ago.

Because I don't care. I don't worry. I have better, more important things on my plate. I'm content. I need no one.

I'm glad you feel like a whole person on your own and don't think you *need* another person to be happy. That's a healthy feeling.
I also hope that'll you'll find some compainionship if you want it.

Its a good attitude. The lean hungry look of desperation is not a good look anyhoos

We aspies have enough issues and adding a heavy heart can tip the scales....

I second that. I finally was able to shout out (I hope nobody heard ) "I am who I am, I'm at peace with myself and if someone rejects me it's THEIR problem, not mine! I may have Aspergers, but I am not defective or bad and I don't want to be cured of anything!" Not one week later and my love life has rapidly advanced to the point I actually had to slow it down. As strange as it sounds, I would have ignored her if I was still actively looking. It's a bizarre little world we live in!
