I don't consider it more acceptable for women to insult men than for men to insult women.

If a woman insults a guy without really good cause, my opinion of her goes down. There are popular labels for such women.

I get why you ask.

Thing is, lots of women would reverse the genders and ask the same.

For either a man or a woman who asks that, the only answer I can come up with is "if the people around you make you feel like that is the case, then find some new damn people."

Its unlikely a woman will become malevolent, besotted over nothing, stalk or intimidate due to a common hormonal response in the more dangerous male of the species.
A woman may cut to the quick more with words, but laws are less defined in terms of emotional harm.
Arabs have chicks sorted in this regard, but personally I dont mind a little head clash with women
usually.... I've been a dick and need my ass kicked anyways, and the way most women kick is often more potentially nurturing [like in good mothering] than a males more competitive approach. Some women can be bullies...

When my behaviour becomes unacceptable, its usually a woman who sets me straight in a reasonable manner.

Also women and children are mucho more protected by society, as seen with many species of mammal and bird. The local geese lost no goslings, whereas swans and mallards lost many offspring, the male ganders are militaristic [and shield the young and the females] in numbers.

Being critical of this aspect or rule as you suggest, will often marginalise you as a crack pot.
I did once, but more in terms of road safety campaigns, addressing accidents caused by women, whereas media highlights young males as key problematic road users.

But its usually young males doing stupid s**t on the roads
Rather than women, who tend to be more nurturing,

even when in harsh words mode

When it needs to be done, make sure you are the biggest a-hole in the world.

One thing a woman does not do is forget. Your words will haunt her forever. *evil grin*.

Insult is to treat with disrespect. Depends what you are specifically referring to. I have been told I can be insulting to both men and women. But that can be a reaction when I overhead. I have told someone lately they are a coward for staying in a marriage that wont go anywhere and cheating, and I was told I was insulting. Tough. If you insult with the truth, is it really an insult? And even so, will it stop me? No.

I have also been insulted, and many times with lies or with ignorance. Story of my life really. I don't think it's a gender issue, at all.

Women get away with a lot of things, including murder and rape.
