Is it so wrong for a boy with aspergers to dream about getting a girlfriend. Even when I went out with my step brother, all I could think about was trying like hell to talk to a girl.

If it is shyness that is your problem:

The solution to shyness and learning to talk to girls is to stop seeing them as aliens from another planet.

If you remove penises, vaginas and boobies you end up with one type of person - human beings. All that stress associated with sex, love and just hanging out with girls to make you feel better do more damage than good, instead of overthinking everything from "what should i say to a girl at first so i don't screw up my chances to marry this girl and live a happy life with her for 55 years", one should think one step at a time - then it becomes less complex.

Just talk to girls like they were any normal human being. Find out about their interests, ask if they watch the same series as you do. It's simpler than you think, even if the first time feels like impossible. Once you have overcome that, you look back and wonder "WTF was i worrying about"?

Just go up to a girl and say 'hi, how are you. i'm <your name here>?' If they reject you, move on.
It's like ichinin said, talk to a girl like she is any other person.
And no there is nothing wrong with an aspergers boy wanting a girlfriend

I'm far from Russell Brand but I have had some success with dating compared to most guys on the spectrum but I had to scrub up a bit and learn presentation skills. There are a few books out there like body language, presentation and other things, Confident Conversation by Dr.Lillian Glass is a good one as well.

Go to an image consultant and find out what work looks for you. You know, smart clothes and a decent haircut to suit someone can really work wonders. All of that with a positive personality projected can work well, I'm not saying it will works wonders but making the best effort you can will help.

Also humour can be a good way to get to a girl's heart, flirting and wit...I'm no professional at it, as I said someone like Boo should write a guide to being witty but yeah, wit and charm can help.
