It feels like I am the only homosexual autistic boy in all of Rhode Island. I want to meet others like me but I do not know how. There are autism groups I could go to but if I get a crush on someone that turns out to be heterosexual then that wouldnt be good.

ideally i would like a boyfriend that also has autism. that way nobody is taking advantage of anybody and i am someone that is very easily taken advantage of.

There actually used to be a gay guy living in Rhode Island about 15 years ago. He stayed at Welcome Arnold in Cranston, hanged out on Thayer Street, visited the dog trials in Arcadia Park and made his rounds around Providence, Westerly, and other areas. He traveled a lot and now lives in Seattle where he became a writer. His self esteem sucks but I think he's a cool kid.

Is there a gay and lesbian youth center where you live? Or anywhere near there?

If not then maybe get online and contact some centers in larger cities. They may have some sort of hotline or outreach program.

You have two things going on that can make you feel isolated from other people in society. Address them separately even if you can't address both in one place.

Never know, a cute aspie boy might drop into the local center...

i used to goto a gay youth center; it didnt go too well. at the time it was unknown i was autistic so it was pretty horrific for me. sometimes they had these big parties and i would freak out and nobody knew why (not even me).

i am over the age they said they would let in now. i think it was 21. i dont think i could handle an adult gay group; it is probably even worse... unless they were to help me one-on-one?

Finding a gay male in RH should be easy.

Finding an autistic one, might be harder.

Try online dating?

i have been trying online dating with okCupid. so far i only got 1 message from someone. we typed to each other for a few days then when i tell him that he needs papa's okay to date me because i am someone that can be easily taken advantage of, he stops messaging me.

so it was obvious to me that he was just someone trying to take advantage of me.

More likely he wanted someone who can make their own decisions and not have to run to papa for permission to date. Assuming he wanted to "take advantage of you" simply makes him the bad guy and you the innocent victim... but it's not real.

You are in control. Make your own decisions, then accept your failings or applaud your successes. Don't blame others.
