Try to explain to him that a big part of your past troubles was the fact that you stopped doing things together and both of you should try to make an effort to come closer to each other again?

I´m sure both of you could come up with some sort of schedule where you get to pick a movie or something once a week and he gets to pick a videogame both of you could enjoy together the next one(videogames have changed a lot lately and they are some games that could interest you if you look them up with an open mind at a store)

I know it doesnt sound ideal but both of you need to try to accomodate to each other´s needs

Yes, what we typically have one day each weekend in which we do something together, such as visit a museum or go to a movie/restaurant meal. Might be harder if you have kids--though there are plenty of kid oriented attractions for families.
