rampant commercialization and globalization for anyone to truly fall in love these days?

WHERE can people meet where it isn't also a (usually very expensive) commercial interaction? bars, restaurants, concerts, festivals, universities, shopping, , they all want your money - you have to find someone else with money who likes spending money on the same things as you so the two of you can go out and spend money together. thats not love. thats strictly commercial.

I completely understand your frustration, Jerry. Yeah, it makes it hard when people don't have money to burn at all of these places. And I get so annoyed when I see commercials every single day for ChristianMingle.com and EHarmony.com, it drives me nuts. The only thing I can suggest? And this applies to me too, because I am going through the same situation as you: find a club or group where you can meet others who like the things that you do. I would start with meetup.com, one of the best places to search for groups in you area. Personally for me, most of the ones where I live stink, but wherever you happen to live might have tons more than where I live. I was reading up last night about the local MidSouth Star Wars group in Macon, Georgia, FanForce Macon, they meet the second Thursday of every month and I am seriously considering joining it, just to meet some fellow fans. I hope this helps you a little bit. Hang in there!! :)

I second that statement. And if meetup fails, try and do something productive, like create e products or read or such. Best of luck.

Yes.
We should go back to the good old days- when you bought your bride for a herd of goats!

Nothing commercial about that!

And its SO romantic!

Maybe I would have more luck if I got to do that.

hmm.... But then guys who had more goats than me would probably buy up all the pretty brides.

Yeah, it's really no different today. Before, only guys with lots of goats could get girls. Now, only guys with good jobs can do it. Nothing has really changed at all.

Most societies including our own prior to the 20th century generally did see marriage in commercial terms, and love-matches were the exception, not the norm.
