I was watching the movie the girl next door. Now I feel like crying. I mean I am so lonely, sometimes I wonder if I will die without ever having somone to love. I just wished someone understood and liked me

It's a romantic comedy... it's supposed to be uplifting, reminding you that anyone can find love. And in the oddest of places.

That Matthew kid had no *really* immediately attractive qualities for girls. He was not direct, confident or daring. Yet he found love. To me, I view that as a reminder that there probably is a chance I will find someone.

I probably won't get Elisha Cuthbert, but that's what dreams are for... I look at the love game logically. In the Brisbane area where I live, theres over 1 million residents. All things being equal, that would make 500 000 women in my immediate vicinity. Out of 500 000, surely there has to be a few that would fit my needs as a person and as an Aspie. Same applies to all of us, in my opinion...

Heya boss,

I've been there, it hurts. Don't ever, ever, ever let a movie get you down.

You should know just from this forum that there are many people out there who are just like you and who can see you for who you really are. I think the hardest thing about ASD is really needing people to understand you. It's human nature, we are all born with a need to be social and to feel love in some way.

I won't tell you it will all be alright. but please know that even when things feel like they couldn't get worse you are not alone.

Maybe you should watch Napoleon Dynamite. That goofy ass movie always puts a smile on my face.

I hope you feel better soon.

Out of curiosity, AntiEverything... has it all worked out for you?

I've been feeling this way most of my life usually I spend most of my time staying up all night watching movies and wishing i had someone. but i think my main problems are:

A. I am not confident
B. I dont take risks
c. Asperger's syndrome (I can pass off as an NT most of the time)

Napoleon Dynamite is a funny movie,

I changed 'A' and 'B' in my life and things are looking up. I also realize that the kind of people I am looking to be around are extremely rare but they ARE out there for sure. You really have to look at yourself and think "is any of this my fault?". You will probably find that isolating yourself and being scared is screwing your chances. It's certainly not easy to jump up and decide to change by any means but if you realize that there is room and means to change for the better....start taking action! My confidence was garbage just a few years ago.

Eek. Romantic movies sometimes piss me off. If they're really well done and aren't superficial and I'm in a good mood, they're uplifting. Otherwise, they irritate me and make me feel lonely.

And pretty much all the time in any movie, when there are people kissing or anything beyond that I usually wince and turn my head because I don't like to watch it. I dunno why that is. Just seems gross.

Do not worry. You shall find love.

Or groupies at least. I'm hoping to start a band in college, which I hope to call the Foo Bards (a play on FUBAR naturally). Girls dig band guys so I've heard.

Great romance movies... the Before Sunrise and Before Sunset movies. Not exactly romantic comedy, but very romantic nonetheless, and very believeable. Although theSPECTRE, I'd have to advise against you watching it. If you cried to The Girl Next Door (not to say that's bad, it's very understandable), you will probably bawl to Before Sunrise. And you can't see Before Sunset without Before Sunrise, because it's the sequel and gives away Sunrise's ending.

I'm not a big romantic comedy fan, but the ones that I like (such as Before Sunrise/Sunset, evidently), leave me feeling uplifted, and that there is a chance. Whether or not it's wishful thinking doesn't matter to me. I feel better about myself and the world, and that's enough.

I really liked Moulin Rouge. That was a really neat love story, made me feel good.

Spanglish was also very good, despite having Adam Sandler.

I saw this movie last night, it felt more like a romantic drama than a comedy. I felt so sorry for Matthew and how he felt towards Danielle. I hated that Kelly character, the way how he talked down to Matthew on getting over her and when he beated the crap out of him in the car that shocked me.

He was much worse than that Jake character on that episode of Six Feet Under who captured David Fisher and stole his van and beated the crap out of him down an alleyway.

Why does this movie seem to make people go into a bout of depression?
